“Yes, yes. The first week of April… as I said prior, whether it’s the beginning, middle, or end of the week is for you to figure out with only three tries at your beck and call!” Hamuko beamed, keeping her studio audience host charm at maximum capacity as she carefully tossed her remote-turned-microphone into the air, effortlessly catching it seconds later. While she had been aware of Chidori’s medical leave from the dormitories, seeing as the brunette was the sole eyewitness to her friend’s unexpected collapse after a week’s worth of back-to-back endurance training (and the startled phone call made to Mitsuru right after), it felt proper to make this juuuuust a bit challenging for her. The two of them had actually planned ahead for a not-so-impromptu birthday lunch at Hagakure, since the possibility of clashing schedules was high… so something small would suffice until a later time, but as everyone figured out on the evening of the 1st, things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Hence why they were here now, standing–or in Chidori’s case, seated–comfortably in the living room, as the stage lights of the hit pretend television show Let’s Figure Out ‘dimmed down’ for the sake of keeping the proper atmosphere. “Ah, what was that, dear contestant?”
“The pranking holiday, you say?” Repeating the question asked, she gently swayed back and forth on the balls of her feet. “Hm. I wonder if you deserve a half point for almost getting there ‘cause you sure enough got the date… BUT!” One sweeping index finger point later, Hamuko’s grin widened. “You haven’t reached the e n t i r e answer yet!”
Chidori’s head was admittedly foggy after being in the hospital for as long as she had been. Time always blended together and she sometimes ended up not retaining some minor memories. As normal as this was though it was bugging her not to know. The right answer lay just out of reach back behind hospital doors.
It looked like Hamuko wasn’t letting this go any time soon and she’d have to think of answers quickly.
The pranking holiday answer was close and that at least put a half smile on her face, pleased with the fact she was getting warmer. But what on earth was on April 1st that was also something super significant.
“Hmm... I feel like I’m so close...”
Were plans made? Did she miss out on something? Was it another trip to Hagakure because Hamuko and Junpei both needed to take a break from that place-- Oh no.
Oh no.
“.......Was that day perhaps... someone’s birthday?” she asked, hesitancy coloring her voice.
She really hoped it wasn’t and she was just confused.
