I’m 12 days post op from top surgery

The days have begun to blend a bit as I let my body heal

Stitch by stitch, a yarn weaving itself around me

Keeping me whole and put together

I’ve had many friends come visit me

Other trans people that have gone before me through this journey

I couldn’t have imagined all these people just a year ago

As they hold me during these moments of change

We sit in my backyard under the sun and they bring me food and make me tea and we laugh and talk and express the adventures ahead

The more I lay in this studio that sits on a hill overlooking the city

The more I want to get lost on the backwoods, to work with my hands, feel fresh air in my lungs and have the mountains of California caress me

Till now- I sit and wait. I let my body fix itself. Stitch by stitch. River by river. Mountain by mountain.
