اللهم إني أسالك التوبة قبل الموت والعفو عند الحساب
O Allah, I ask You for repentance before death and forgiveness at the time of reckoning
Aishah bint Abi Bakr رضي الله عنها said:
يا نساء المؤمنين، إذا أذنبت إحداكن ذنبًا، فلا تخبرن به الناس، ولتستغفر الله تبارك وتعالى، ولتتب إليه؛ فإن العباد يعيّرون ولا يغيّرون، والله يغيّر ولا يعيّر.
“O women of the believers, if one of you commits a sin, then do not inform people of it. Rather, seek the forgiveness of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and repent to Him. For indeed, people reproach and do not rectify, whereas Allah rectifies and does not reproach.”
Makārim al-Akhlāq by al-Kharāʾiṭī, p. 503
❝ When you talk to a lot of people, they often say things like, “I don't want to sin, because I'm making Du'a for a promotion, and I don't want Allāh سبحانه وتعالى to turn me down.” I don't want to sin because I don't want to face financial problems, or issues in my marriage, or so Allāh can grant me a righteous spouse.
Their focus tends to be more on worldly concerns when it comes to the consequences of sins, but the consequences of sins aren't just limited to the physical, visible troubles that you face in your health and in your finances.
There's something even more subtle and more impactful. It's when light of Iman fades from the heart, and then it causes one to lose the sweetness of 'Ibādah. That's truly among the gravest and greatest punishments of sins.
The sweetness of Ibādah is among the greatest blessings that Allāh & bestows upon a believer. Strive to experience this joy, and when you reach that status, hold on to that mighty blessing tightly. ❞
Spiritual Purification Retreat | Steps to Attain Sweetness in Worship by Shayhk Ahmed Mūsā jibrīl حفظه الله
"The truly fortunate person is the one who seizes the seasons of the months, days, and hours, drawing closer to his Master therein through acts of obedience. Perhaps he may be touched by one of those divine breezes, attaining a happiness that grants him safety thereafter from the Fire and its scorching heat."
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, Lata’if al-Ma’arif
“Our Mahdi will have a broad forehead and a pointed (prominent) nose. He will fill the earth with justice as it is filled with injustice and tyranny. He will rule for seven years.“”
— (Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 2, p. 208; Fusul al-muhimma, p. 275)
remember death, it will blow away all of your worries and will involve you in the only worry you should be worrying about — in what state i will die in?
كفى بالموت واعظا
The sincere believer openly professes his faith. He stands firmly grounded in his creed and remains steadfast upon his path. He does not allow delusion or doubt to enter his heart, nor does he permit hesitation or wavering to weaken his resolve.
Rather, as hardships intensify, as calamities grow, and as worries surround him, his certainty only increases. Through his unwavering trust in Allah, the Almighty, he dispels fear and uncertainty.
For he relies upon a truth conveyed without doubt: that the final outcome belongs to the righteous; that the schemes of the wicked are destined to fail; and that evil plotting ultimately returns upon those who devise it.
This conviction strengthens his patience, refines his character, and anchors his actions in purpose. It teaches resilience in adversity, clarity in belief, and discipline in conduct, transforming faith from mere words into a guiding force for life.
Someone was asked about his condition and he said:
"Allah has bestowed upon me so many blessings that I cannot count them, despite the many sins I commit. I do not know for which I should be more grateful: for the bad that He conceals or for the good that He reveals."
The Ḥaqq is most worthy of being followed, and Allāh is the protector of those who proclaim it openly.
Indeed, the Ḥaqq is clear and radiant, while falsehood is tangled and confused. A person does not need deep reflection to tell the difference between pebbles and precious gems. Nor does one need prolonged contemplation to recognize a truth that stands plainly before the eyes. The Ḥaqq is grasped by sound intuition and perceived by those who are thoughtful and aware. When it becomes evident, a noble soul recognizes it and affirms it within.
The Ḥaqq is like a string of pure jewels. Its brilliance captures the gaze and guides the seeker toward it. It is too clear to be ignored and too valuable to be left undefended. It touches sincere hearts and settles within upright souls.
So may Allāh have mercy on the one who recognizes the Ḥaqq, distinguishes it from falsehood, and acts upon it. Such a person proclaims the truth openly and exposes falsehood until it is extinguished.
remembering death should be the only force that should keep you moving and urge you to better yourself with every passing day. This dunya is a little cloud that will eventually fade away. But what you do here remains and makes all the difference to what awaits you in Akhirah
yearn to meet Allaah ya muslim, and prepare your baggage, for the days of dunya are short and in jannah will be your final meeting
The Shaytān comes to one of us — even to the one who has memorised the Qur’ān — and whispers to him:
“You have already read the Qur’ān, passed over its verses, and understood the meanings it contains.
So busy yourself now with something else that you don’t know.”
This is nothing but deception, trickery, and taking advantage of people’s gullibility.
The verses of the Qur’ān — no matter how many times a person reads them — every new time, by the tawfīq of Allah, reveal to him fresh meanings, deductions, guidance, benefits, and insights that had not appeared to him before, especially when he reflects upon them.
The heart needs to pass over some of the meanings of the Qur’ān every single day.
This passing over and pondering upon those meanings is the nourishment and sustenance of the heart and its soul.
Without it, the heart descends into levels of heedlessness, hardness, and weakness of īmān.
A heart that is distant from the meanings of the Qur’ān and from wandering in its greatness and beauty is a heart deprived of the happiness, joy, delight, and intimacy of this world.
The greatest form of abandoning the Qur’ān for which a servant is blamed is not abandoning its recitation, but abandoning the joy and delight in the magnificent meanings that Allāh opens upon His servant when he looks into His verses.
And Allāh is the One whose help is sought.
Luqman رضي الله عنه said to his son:
"O my son, if Shaytān comes to you from the direction of doubt and suspicion, then overcome him with certainty and sincere advice. If he comes to you from the direction of laziness and weariness, then overcome him by remembering the grave and the Resurrection. And if he comes to you from the direction of hope and fear, then tell him that this worldly life is something that will be departed from and left behind."
Al-Bidāyah wa'n-Nihāyah: 9/299
“ Indeed, istighfar is one of the Daily routine which is not befitting of the Muslim to neglect, and its upon him to increase in it as much as he able to. For it is - by will of Allāh - from among the greatest remedies for the disease of the heart and the illness of desires and doubts.”
-Shaykh Nasir Al-Fahd فك الله أسره
Sufyan al-Thawre رَحْمَةُ الله عليه said:
“I was deprived of standing in the night prayer for five months because of a sin I committed.”
It was said to him: “And what was that sin?”
He replied: “I saw a man weeping, and I said to myself: ‘This is showing off (riyaa’).’”
And this is because goodness leads to goodness, and evil leads to evil. All sins harden the heart and prevent one from standing for the night prayer especially those that have a deeper impact.
Shaykh Muhammad Ibn 'Abdil-Wahab رحمه الله said:
" O my brothers! Allah Allah! Hold onto the foundation of your dīn; its beginning, its end, its core, and its head: the testimony that La īlaha ilAllāh. Learn its meaning, love it, love its people, and make them your brothers, even if they are far away.
Disbelieve in the tawaghīt, oppose and hate them, and whoever loves them, or defnds them, or does not make takfīr of them, or says that nothing is upon them in relation to them, or that "Allāh has not obligated me anything with regards to them." Verily, whoever said that has fabricated a lie against Allāh.
Verily, Allāh has obligated to disbelieve in them and to disassociate from them, even if they were your brothers and children. So Allāh Allāh! Hold steadfast upon that so that perhaps you may meet your Lord not having committed any shirk with Him. O Allāh, take us as Muslīmīn and join us with the righteous."
Majmu' Rasail at-Tawhīd wal-Iman, v. 1, p. 368.
Allāh عز وجل tests his slaves so that they may understand that there is nothing left for them except submitting themselves to Him, جل في علاه.
Your trials are a reminder to go back to Allāh, call out to Him through His names and attributes, repent from your sins, keep yourself busy with the remembrance of the One who created you, understand that He is the only One who will alleviate your pains by His Will سبحانه وتعالى, and act according to this understanding.
وعلى الله التكلان
Whatever you have asked for - whether it is provision, success, marriage, stability, or inner peace - Allah will grant it, and He will grant it in a way that is better than what you imagined. But it may take time. And that is the reality we must accept with patience.
A believer should wake up each day with the certainty that their du‘a will be accepted. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ would be content with whatever state they found themselves in, trusting that Allah’s decree was khayr for them.
So do not be sad.
