“I only debate my equals. All others, I teach.”
-Dr. John Henrik Clarke
the purest form of love, i think, is having someone who wants to learn about you, from you, and with you.

Not only are we losing legends, innovators & pioneers… I’m losing my favorite writers too. My God.
“Before going back to college, I knew I didn't want to be an intellectual spending my life in books and libraries without knowing what the hell is going on in the streets. Theory without practice is just as incomplete as practice without theory. The two have to go together.”
- Assata Shakur
Assata Shakur died in Cuba while living in political asylum, but was restricted from returning to the States due to the same systemic barriers that haunt us today. She wrote about the pain of being separated from her loved ones and Black American culture. She went from one cage to another, dying "free" in theory. Physically free of the American penal system but never truly experiencing the liberation she sought after is just freedom on somebody's terms. Her legacy is liberation nonetheless and we should strive to continue it.
RIP to the late, great JoAnne Deborah Byron, infamously known as Assata Shakur

"You can't call for political unity unless you practice it in your own relationships... That's something that has got to be put into practice every day."
Assata: An Autobiography, Chapter 15, p. 218
Men protect women in the physical realm
Women protect men in the spiritual realm
I pray every good man finds a woman who he feels safe with, because men need protection too just a different kind.
