actually can we talk about the flipside fight. can we talk about it please

this is the lowest miguel has ever felt in his life. he's just found out tyler is his father, he's made hanging comments, and now he blames himself for angela's death. and it says right there, in big bold letters, that he is suicidal.

something interesting about this fight is that miguel does not speak at all after flipside makes that observation. he doesn't correct him or try and say otherwise, and nearly lets himself die (by suffocation!! by the way!! now look at all the times miguel has been choked out by enemies before this!! look at the opening of 26 again!!)

miguel and his lack of autonomy and how perhaps one of the reasons he fights back is because choosing how he dies is one of the only things he has any control over. if he dies it will be by his own hand, on his own terms

when he defeats flipside (BY DECAPITATION!) these are the only words he says. he has no time to talk to anyone, and I don't think he wants to. he leaves without exchanging pleasantries

look ⬆️ at the way he kneels next to flipside's head. resting his arm on his knee, head down. he's so so so so tired

actually my favorite part of the fall of the hammer crossover is that the punisher 2099 team clearly didn’t know much abt miguel so they just wrote him like a bitchy queen based on Vibes alone
