I can safely say after spending the last few weeks learning code and documenting my journey. The time has come to an end, and this will be my last blog post. I have loved learning code and can safely say I have found a new passion, that I can hopefully pursue a career in. Thanks for reading my blogs and have a nice day.

When creating my research file, I signed up for a website called Moqups. Moqups empowers its user to envision effectively, test and validate your ideas with quick wireframes and detailed mockups. I could not recommend Moqups anymore; it is easy to use and save me so much time while creating my research file. Overall it allowed me to be more creative by removing tedious technical barriers.
I am thrilled with my most recent assignment for web authoring. I had to create a research file and create a wireframe diagram layout for my upcoming website. I look forward to creating this website in total, and hopefully, I can stick to my original vision.
I first decide to do a grid layout when researching for this assignment. I plan to incorporate a grid layout in my site by using artic imagery that represents Tolkien’s work. I have chosen this because grid layouts make it easy for the user to browse, and people can stop to specific topics of interest. Grids allow for an equal distribution of text, photos, videos onto the web pages, letting users decide upon the importance of each unit. I plan to have an artistic feel to my page that I believe will work well with the content of my page. After deciding to do a grid layout, I decided to do research and look at other grid layout websites for inspiration. I first came across Ikea’s websites. I like its simple design and how easy it it was to look at products.
I then came across the Kinfolk website. I love this website from its responsive titles and images that move as you scroll through the website. I found this website extraordinarily artistic and inspirational. Its unconventional grid layout is exactly what I also plan to do for my website. I plan to draw heavily from this websit
This week I found a helpful online article that discussed the essential tips and tricks when setting up a word press site titled Essential WordPress Tips and Tricks for 2020 By Sunny Staff. This article has proved so helpful and highly informative. Suny states the essential tips and tricks are as follows. When setting up a webpage, you should pick an SEO-Friendly theme. You also should create clean permalinks, get an ssl certificate, don’t brush off backlinks, optimise your site speed and optimise your webpage for voice search.
This week I set up FileZilla and linked it to my WordPress account. I am extremely enthusiastic about starting to design the theme and layout of my website. FileZilla proved challenging to get to grips with when I first used it at the start but thankfully, Gemma, my lecturer, talked us through the download, Install and how we linked it to WordPress and the Knuth server.
This article titled Design Principles for Developers: Processes and CSS Tips for Better Web Design by Andrew Spencer proved to be extremely informative and useful when I was doing my previous assignment where I had to design my first webpage. This article key point is that when you are design a webpage you a structuring content so other people can understand. Andrew stats that people have been designing this for centuries and I design people have developed principles that work with digital interfaces. “These principles manifest in three key areas: how words are displayed (typography), how content is arranged (spacing), and how personality is added (colour)“. The article then goes into detail in how the three principle are then applied to web design.
This week I submitted my first web authoring assignment where I had to develop my own webpage. This proved to be extremely challenging and rewarding. I learned so much completing this assignment, the knowledge gained from this assignment will aid me in all my future assignments. I could not be happier with the result (I hope my lecture thinks likewise), I look forward to my feedback and the overcoming my next challenge in this model!
This week I started doing work on my first web Authoring assignments. For this assignment I am required to create a 2-page website, with stylesheet. The main learning objective from this assignment is to develop and build Standards-based Web sites, using modern technologies and practices. As well as writing HTML in this assignment it also requires me to write in CSS. This was the first time that I have wrote in CSS, while it was difficult for a number of reasons, the most prominent one being that we haven’t gone through it fully in class yet. This Saturday is scheduled to go through CSS and styling more thoroughly, none the less I decided to give it a try myself in order to push on and be more proactive with my time. I still have a long way to go on my assignment, but I am happy that I started it and that I progressed greatly practicing on my own. Next week I plan to post my progress regarding this assignment and any thoughts I may or may not have associated with it.
This week in college I wrote correct code for the first time. When I saw my basic code take form to create a webpage, I could feel a spark that I normally associate with other passions that I have such creative writing and photography. The sense of creating something and seeing it online in this form may hit the same chord that my other passions do. Yet still not being 100% sure, I still look forward to fully creating a functional website to see if this spark leads to something more.
Welcome to my first post on my Web Authoring blog which will document my coding journey from the first week to my final week of studying code.
This week I started my first class in Web authoring, where I started learning my first code language which is HTML. I downloaded my fist coding software’s Atom and Visual studio. Despite only briefly using both software, both feel well optimised and helpful. I also signed up to Free Code Camp to practice writing code in-between classes. Free Code Camp is brilliant. For those of you who do not know, Free Code Camp is exactly what the name implies, a free code camp! They offer thousands of videos, articles, and interactive coding lesson to its users. I cannot recommend it enough!
At the end of the class, I could not stop feeling completely overwhelmed by the work involved, but I did not feel despair. I felt more of a sense of eagerness and anticipation to learn something new. If you are a gamer you will understand this comparison. It is like starting a massive open world RPG for the first time, like The Wither 3 and hundreds of different markers start populating on your map. There is an overwhelming sense of it all being too much. But the eagerness and the anticipation of completing all theses quests and the sense of completion when you obtain the coveted platinum trophy completely surpasses the overwhelming feeling. This is exactly how I felt when I heard about all the different types of code such as HTML CSS and Java to name a few. That said, the thought of creating my very own website one day, is the platinum trophy at the end of it all! I eagerly wait for my next class to start so I can carry on my code quest.
