Saezuru chapter 67 confirmed for the next issue on 30/09! 🎉

That was quicker than expected, thankfully.

Tomorrow we will know if the next chapter of Saezuru will be included in one of the following issues of ihr HertZ from this year, but I think it's unlikely. From the looks of it, we might only see volume 10 being promoted in October, during a new themed café event.

With this hiatus, I have decided to answer the questions from the 30 Day Saezuru Challenge, brought back to the fandom thanks to @jilyreadz. ❤️ But I'm going to cheat and post every other day instead of consecutive days because I'm a lazy bastard. 🫣

Edit: it seems the café and volume 10 are happening and Sensei's name is confirmed for the next issue! What a pleasant surprise.✨

30 Day Saezuru Challenge - Day 1

1. How did you discover Saezuru and the fandom?

I discovered Saezuru via the peak of Livejournal's activity, after reading Don't Stay Gold −initially published as an oneshot. A few years later, Saezuru started to be serialised, but I did not get invested in reading the story because the way Yashiro was presented in Don't Stay Gold and the cover of volume 1 made me think he would be "just another kinky character".

Not long after, I was looking for other works by Yoneda Kou, found Tadayoedo (assuming it was an unrelated oneshot), and then realised... boy was I wrong. It was a major shock. After reading it, I immediately started to follow the plot of Saezuru because of Yashiro. Back then, there was nothing with that tone being written by anybody in this genre; I could instantly understand why Sensei was being praised beyond the restricted community that yaoi (BL) used to be.

As for the fandom, I rediscovered it since I returned to Tumblr, while searching for my interests again. To summarise: I was not engaged in any fandom in a long time (for a variety of reasons) up until the last three years, when gaming and fanfiction brought me back.

Yesterday Inoue posted a new picture on Xfolio of Sugiki doing a ballroom hold, while her teacher quoted the post saying that the release date will be confirmed soon. On Comic Days, the day is listed at August 14th! The second half of the update is likely to more heavily feature Team Sugiki and Fusako.

My favorite professor, shout out Glenn, would interrupt students who were saying "Well XYZ clearly felt--" and go "No, backtrack, scratch that. They are a character. Not a person. They don't have any thoughts other than what the writer clearly specifies on paper they have. Don't give agency to nonliving things, they are not real, they never were real, and it is dangerous to lose that line."

He was a sweet man and raised in the Midwest so interrupting people hurt his very soul, that's how dangerous he felt the idea of losing the line of fiction was.

He notably also taught a course called Bible in Lit which I took and those lines came back a lot.
