Maintaining Recommended Calcium Levels
Calcium is a major concern for those with dairy allergies. Calcium and vitamin D play an important role in the formation and maintenance of strong bones and teeth. For growing children these nutrients are particularly important, in fact, our bone density peaks between the ages of 20-30 so it is equally important for teens and young adults as well.
Here are some ways to get get calcium:
* chia seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, celery seeds
* broccoli, broccoli rabe, dried figs
* kale, spinach, arugula, mustard and collard greens, okra
* butternut squash, rhubarb
* sardines, canned salmon
