Austrian quota immigration: updated rules on visa residence and entry and exit during the coronavirus in Austria
On 19th March, the Austrian ministry of foreign affairs issued a note to the diplomatic agencies in Austria. In order to combat the coronavirus epidemic, the Austrian government introduced the following new measures, which are valid from 20th March to 10th April:
1. According to the ministry of the interior notice, visa-free entry personnel within 90 days and those who had already held a valid Austrian visa at the time of the coronavirus of the epidemic in Austria shall leave the country or apply to the local police for extension on time. If it is not possible to extend the office due to the suspension of external offices by the relevant departments, the above-mentioned personnel will not be punished, and the overdue departure will not affect the future visa application.
2. Air Entry Personnel
(1) Austrian citizens and foreign citizens holding Austrian residence permits must be separated from their homes for 14 days. The same rule also apply to all diplomats stationed in Austria.
(2) Citizens of third countries (non-EU member states, citizens of the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) are prohibited from entering the country. Except rescue workers, medical staff, transit passengers, freight forwarders, personnel of unregistered diplomatic agencies and international organizations and their families in Austria.
(3) The EU member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein citizens, and people outside the 2nd regulation who enter Austria must provide a German or English medical health certificate (including the results of the coronavirus nucleic acid test) issued within 4 days. If a health certificate cannot be provided, isolation must be for 14 days.
3. From Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and once to serious epidemic areas within 14 days (refer to the travel warning related to the new crown pneumonia epidemic issued by the Austrian ministry of foreign affairs), they must be issued within 4 days medical health certificate (including the results of the New coronavirus nucleic acid test) cannot be entered by those who cannot provide it. Austrian citizens, persons who have a residence in Austria, and persons holding a residence permit in Austria are required to enter the home for 14 days. Exceptions include non-stop personnel, goods and trade transport, commuters and rescue workers.
