Can't Keep This Beating Heart At Bay.. {Chapter 1}
Hey, so I've decided the best way to thank you all for praying and sending good vibes my way, was to write a Maksyl fic. It is going to be multichaptered, and well, here is the first one!
October 25th, 2014.
"How do I even begin to say goodbye?"
Those words kept replaying on his mind as he wondered how they would've sound from her mouth, if she would've cried, or if she would've been serious. Doubt was killing him, but oh, he had lost every will of living the moment he found that letter...
Maks had entered his apartment in a rush. He had SWAY rehearsals and so much to do, he only wanted to shower, change his clothes and be out the door. But in the hurry, he didn't realize he had left his phone in the car, and that it was constantly ringing now with the name Meryl on the screen.
Kilometers away, a brunette was sitting on her bathroom's floor, her back laid against the door. She had her phone on her hand, silent tears streaming down her face as she clutched her little fist tightly, resisting the urge of running away, catching the first plane and getting to him.
Meryl shook her head, she could not let him suffer as much as she was suffering, she couldn't have him leave that same hell. It was her fault, all her fault. She should've been careful, she shouldn't have fallen that day on the Rockefeller centre rink. She never thought she would fall and that it would hurt the baby, her baby... their baby.
Present Day (September 23rd, 2016).
ā"Meryl darling, tell us what made you take the decision of coming to Australia to help with this amazing foundation! We've seen you win the Olympics two years ago, take the Mirror Ball Trophy only months after, and do so many other wonderful things. And now, you've been living in Australia for more than a year, done such good things for those in need, graduated and become an important activist of HeForShe of the UN. What can you tell us?
ā"I just..." She put on a smile as her mind travelled to past events and shook them off her thoughts as quickly as she could. "Personal matters made me realize I was still young and there was so much to do for people, women and the world itself. While the US will always be my home and everybody I love is there, I just needed to get away to be my own self."
"Five, six, seven.. No, no that's not how it goes. Ugh, just stop. Take a minute, learn the fucking steps and then come back to me." Maks sighed frustrated as he left the rehearsing room. "Not now, Val." He muttered as he saw his brother approaching him. But Valentin did not walk away. "Come on, bro, you watched the interview, she's in NYC. Tell me you don't want to go there and..." The older Chmerkovskiy turned around and gave his brother a pleading glare. "Of fucking course I want to go there right now, demand an answer, hold her tight, tell her I love her, that since she left I haven't been myself, I can't be happy without her. But I can't, because she doesn't love me, maybe never did. She left and that's it."
