There is a allegory in Mairimashita Iruma-Kun that feels so obvious that I’m somewhat shocked I’ve yet to see anyone talk about it. Let me describe it and I’m sure y’all will catch on.

A young man is taken away from his homeland and brought to a new country against his will. He doesn’t speak the language of this country, doesn’t know its culture, and is absolutely terrified. Overtime though, after making friends and connections in this new world, he slowly but surely finds a place in it. He thrives in the environment rising above his station and proving to those around him that he is just as—if not more—capable than those born in this country. He’s even poised to take on a role historically only filled by the dominant ethnicity of this country.

Yes this is a rather odd retelling of the plot of Mairuma but is it also not a like text book immigrant success story??? I mean the main antagonists right now are literally border patrol!!
