Gero-kun I know it's really really hard but you have to shut off Kinosaki Brain for 5 minutes and let the suspicion and questions flow freely, things are NOT adding up!!!!!
Chapter 445 of the main series, "Remember," and chapter 4 of Boku Doumei "Test Your Luck With Gacha Showdown," have been translated.
Read Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: Boku Doumei no Game-michi Ch. 4 "Test your luck with gacha showdown" on MangaDex!
Read Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Ch. 445 "Remember." on MangaDex!
How romantic.
So I was telling a friend about Make the Exorcist Fall in Love with a friend and warned her about sexual assault in the manga, and she was like "is it tasteful". And I understood what she was asking, but I no longer really look at things that way. Can depiction of rape ever be tasteful? If tasteful means free from fetish, I'd argue no. It can try, but there's inherent sensationalization in depiction of violence. But I also don't think using fiction to explore a fetish is inherently distasteful. But all this is a bit much to explain to a much younger friend. So I settled with "well, it's treated seriously".
But it got me thinking a lot about depiction of sexual assault in the manga, particularly around Mr. Priest. And I saw this post of ppl commenting on how the manga is so captain obvious sometimes. And it is. But I also think... the way it depict his sexual trauma is also a bit more layered than that.
Mr. Priest was raped by a demon, but his sexual trauma flashbacks are always accompanied by memories of being whipped for having sinful thoughts. (Hence my pitch for the manga being "can true love defeat catholic guilt?") The connection is clear, before he was raped, he was repeatedly physically abused, and the nature of his abuse is inherently sexual despite not being sex itself.
And like... when we talk about abuse, there seems to be a special level of Bad for the act of sex itself. But a lot of what rape is is high control and the removal of body autonomy. And like... this is the catholic church abuse scandal manga so that's what's... there...
Mr. Priest's guilt and trauma towards sinful thoughts is what paralyzes him whenever he's in any slightly suggestive situation. It is what makes his own rape experience unthinkable and unspeakable.
And like... I think that kinda goes beyond "rape is bad" to the kind of environment where sexual abuse can happen, where strict hierarchy and allowance for harsh punishment makes it possible, and shame silences victims from ever voicing their experience.

thinking about when ichi the witch like had just started and a lot of people were like “does this mangaka know trans people are a thing?” Cause you’ll actually get an answer very quickly by reading her other manga, like really quickly
just give me one chance pls
Ichi the witch: Gakuraku x Ichi appreciation They can be lovers, brothers, partners or whatever but they are so cute
i love olruggio witchhat so much. he’s a sun-coded black cat. he’s a lethally chronic procrastinator. he’s a girl dad. he lies to the police. his magic is warm. his kids bully him and they’re right. he’s in a decade-long magically induced situationship, but he doesn’t know it’s cursed and he’s in it for love of the game. he’s lowkey a celebrity but chooses to live in a cottage on the countryside with said situationship and their four children. he sleeps on the couch. he was a crazy child. he’s a bit of a picky eater. he has chronic anemia and is two minutes away from passing out at all times. he hates hurting things so much that he struggles to kill a disgusting giant leech. he’s a burnt out gifted kid. he is begrudgingly excellent at one of his jobs and on-purposely atrocious at the other one. he has a baby face and is nearly unrecognizable without his beard. he carries an enormous, inexplicable guilt. he’s the sky’s kindest, most radiant star. he’s the perfect man
Oh my GOD Nasu's dialogue is even worse in the original Japanese
First of all, the immediate word you see to the right of the speech bubble is kodzukuri (子作り) literally "child-making". That's the first thing outta his mouth
Second of all, the counter he uses for the bride candidates is tousuu (頭数)
As in "heads of" cows/horses/etc.
THAT'S HOW YOU COUNT ANIMALS
HE LITERALLY COUNTS THEM LIKE LIVESTOCK
Ok bear with me as I be annoying abt a fucking FILER CHARACTER WITH ONE LINE OF SPEAKING IN THIS MANGA. As I normally do
You. Gunling. You have the misfortune of fascinating me!
Ok so, we can all imagine that to the Ribboncandy family, a family of gunslingers, sight is a very VERY relevant and important thing that, amunst others is of great value! So. Imagine just having 1 eye instead of 2. How do you see yourself? How dose you own family who has a around forever see you? How do you deal with all the drawbacks of that mentality?
Also, how did she even lose her eye?? Probably a majik accident honestly but if so why not just fix it like Spica did? It was suggested that maybe the damage was too much so. Thier was nothing really left of her eye to fix. Or maybe she was born like that....
ALSO ALSO! Out of all the gunlings, she happens to look the most like Amadoro (to me), surprisingly enough
So maybe they are sisters with a rather big age gap, (she is a teen, and Ama is at least 25). I think that the gunlings and Amadoro arnt really all sisters- well at least not all of them, some of them are cousins to each other and ect.
So yeah, imagine being Amadoro Ribboncandys- the HEAD of the Ribboncandy houses WAY younger sister with 1 working eye and such little magic that a revolver is the best fit for you- contrast to your big sisters mechan gun that has never ran out of amo bc of her crazy big magic supply
Incredible Spica and Kumugi foils here boys
