Lights Out trailer

This trailer starts out slow and speeds up more and more as the video goes on. It also starts in a confution and curiosity feeling as the woman switches the light. The trailer is made well but I dont like when the trailer tells the story and this one did. It tells you that there are several people are beeing hunted by the mothers friend that has died because something terible happend to her, her name is Diana. The trailer also tells you that she feeds of the fear from darkness from the people in the movie. I also noticed how they make the scenes more snappy as the trailer progresses because it bulds up the tention with these fast jump scaresuntill it sudently stops and makes you think about what is happening. Why is Diana doing this?

Adalberto Abbate

This photograph shows a time of a zombie apocalypse where a man is shooting zombies of the other side of the fence. This creates a nice but sad atmosphere because of the selection of colours make the model look bright and it has a lot of contrast but people have died. I think the model was made from a materiel that looks like grass and the tree trunks look like plastic as well as the fence. The car is probably a toy car.

Thomas Doyle

This photograph shows a house that has been destroyed and kids playing behind the house next to a sand pit. the while may be a sinkhole or a bomb but less likely because more of the house would be destroyed and there would be bits of the house everywhere but there not, so it is more likely the ground was unstable and the structure collapsed with the ground. i also think that this was Photoshop from several different pictures from real life and models. i think this because of the realism of the trees and the children look like a sculptures well as the house. but the grass looks very real.

Grace Weston and Slinkachu

This is a photograph showing a model a man smaller then a monkey nut braking the shell with a chisel and hammer like if he was making a sculpture. This links to the strange worlds because there is no man that is smaller then a monkey nut or a monkey nut bigger then a monkey nut, but i think this was a miniature sculpture made from clay or Plasticine and painted with acrylic paint as it is a surface that reflects light. Most of the photographs taken by this photographer are to do with miniature sculptures of people of other objects that show the worlds from a closeup point of view of the world around us like this image for example showing ants and vehicles made from vegetables.

This photograph shows the same thing everyday small things around us in a strange interpretation because ants don`t make vehicles, although they are more like skate boards looking at he ants on the sides.

Captain Phillips Trailer

I really like this trailer because of how they selected the scenes for the trailer at the start of the trailer the shots are very wide and when the pirates get closer and closer and finally on board the cargo ship they use a lot of closeups and really narrow the shots just to the action happening on the ship.The trailer also starts of calm and the tension builds throughout the whole trailer without stopping even if the scenes slow down the tension is still building up because of what is happening in that specific slow shot. I don`t like how they show you a lot of the story because u can see that they go on board and take the ship over and you can see that there is a rescue mission happening from cars on a air plane landing strip and then a group of people that jump from the plane, although i am not sure if they are jumping from the air plane to the ship.

Conjuring 2 Trailer

I also think this is a really good trailer as it shows a lot of jump scares but less then the first one this one shows more of the characters and how they feel. this one also shows the person that is hunting them but not the real one because that old man is just a doll to a much more powerful demon that they didn't show which was a really good thing because it will make the audience go like i did not expect this when it comes to watching the full movie. I like how the trailer is really dynamic because of the selection of shots like the one when the girl is attached to the sealing and then she suddenly ends up in the room with a pan shot looking around at crosses turning upside down.

Conjuring 1 Trailer

I really like this trailer as it presents a happy family in a house and then things start getting a bit creepy when someone is in the wardrobe but there is int and then the pictures falling of the wall and the mother gets locked in the basements and there is a clap behind her. I really like this trailer as it docent hive the plot away of what is actually happening it just shows the jump scares and builds them up. It also shows that they are being hunted. It also shows the main bits with the mother because she is the main Pearson in the story that suffers the most because of is demon. I will try to do something similar in my trailer build up slowly but without showing the main danger in the movie.

Martian Trailer

This is a slow and storytelling trailer as it has a slow pace to it and tell you a lot about the story. it tells you that the astronaut Mark Watney is dead and they leave him on mars. Then they find out that he is alive and they left him and that he grew food on mars as well as make water to survive for 4 years unless he can make contact with NASA. Which he did and they where planning a rescue mission to get him back home. in my opinion the trailer gives you too much away and they should have made it more mysterious because if I watched this trailer before I watched the movie I wouldn't watch the movie because I know exactly what happens. I will make my trailer more about the things that happens but without telling the story because I think I made the trailer interesting without telling the story people will want to watch it more than the martian because they already know what happens. This trailer is just a massive spoiler.

Kingsman trailer

I like how this trailer had a lot of dynamic scenes like the one where the camera shows the blocks that the main character lives in with his mom. I also like the trailer building up with fast pace scenes of the car stealing and the kings men job interview and then it slows down to showing some relations between characters as well as their sense of humour. Then the trailer goes on to fast pace cut scenes. I will add a lot of fast pace scenes to keep the interest of viewers. but I will not slow down i will keep it building up faster and faster until the end. I also liked this trailer as it didn't give away almost anything to do with the main plot of the movie.

Green Screen

In this post I am going to tell you how I added smoke to a photo from a green screen video of smoke.

This is the original photo that will have the smoke in it.

This is a frame from the video of this smoke expanding. I have combined these two and made this.

I have done this by adding both components to the time line in after effects making sure the green screen footage is above the photo. Then used a function called keylight (1.2) to remove the colour green from the background. I used a eye drop tool and selected the green and the background was automaticly removed from the smoke. All that was left was to ajust the screen gain and balance that will get rid of wierd edges that where still left.

Adding 3D objects in to a video

I am going to show you and explain how I added a human figure in to a video I recorded.

The screenshot above shows my video footage in after effects with a human figure that has been added from software called cinema 4D.

I imported the video and used a tool called 3D Camera Tracker that found objects in the video that I can pin objects to. Then created a null and a camera. At this stage I was able to export this in to a cinema 4D file.

In cinema 4D I found the null that I created added a human figure and changed the Y,X and Z coordinates to 0 ones I listed the object under my null so the human figure will be in the origin of my null. Then I just changed the rotation and size of the object and saved the file. Then back to after effects i imported the file in placed it on my layers above the video footage and I had a simple 3D object added in to a video.

This is simple SGI that is used in makeing movies. These objects can also be animated.

Jonah Samson

This is a photograph taken of a model that is in G. Gibson Gallery in Seattle by Johan Samson. The photograph shows the sinking titanic on the 14th of April 1912. The model is setting a catastrophic atmosphere as a shit is sinking and people have died. i think that the model was made from clay or plaster and been coated with light reflecting paint. the ship was probably made from wood and string and then the models of people where probably made from clay.

CSI:Minature Killer

This is a model used in Season 7 Miniature Killer in the CSI series to represent a crime scene. I think this doesn't have a purpose to set a mood it is more likely that it was supposed to a different perspective for the investigation team to have on a crime scene. The setting is not the artists choice as well as the colours as they were taken from the original crime scene representing a car crash. The base of the model in my opinion was made from plaster poured into a mold and covered in sand. The rocks are probably rocks and the yellow grass could be made from doll hair or strongs from rope. The car is probably a toy car or a model made in clay. This model was probably made in a similar way to mine that I have made to the strange worlds project using a mold to pour plaster in, but it had to be a reverse mold.

Lori Nix

The photograph of the model above made by Lori Nix represents a laundry shop in a apocalyptic time of the world where a war or a zombie apocalypse might have happened. I don`t think it might have been a bomb because the place is too tidy for it to be a bomb. The colours that Lori Has chosen make the model look really realistic as all of her work. Lori is a modeller that makes her models look realistic. I don`t think that she chosen these colours to set the mood as she just wanted to make this look like a laundry shop. The dirt, tipped over washing baskets and the damaged old looking ceiling make this model look like it is a apocalyptic time in the world. Lori likes to use a lot of different materials to make her models that is one of the reasons why I think it look realistic. Some of the materials that she could have used to make this is metal for the vents and washing baskets, washing machines and tumble dyers as well as transparent plastic for the window with the photo in the background and the windows in the washing machines and tumble dryers. She may have also used plastic to make the chairs by the window and card for the boxes after washing powder. Overall I think that this model really sets the feel of this scene in a apocalypse of some sort as we are not sure what her idea of this was.

Jake & Dino Chapman

The above photograph is displaying a model of a chaotic mass of people fighting made by Jake and Dino Chapman. The model suggests that all the people are slaves as most of them don`t have shirts or trousers, I think this because if they where warriors in war they would be wearing armor and probably have a weapon like a sword or a lance. Vultures sitting under the bridges also suggest that people are dyeing as they eat dead bodies which also reinforces the idea of war and battle in this scene. The models are painted in gloomy color to show that this is a catastrophic battle, the colors also set a sad mood. I think that the mountains where made using a reverse model of the mountain in clay and filled with plaster. The brides where probably made from plastic as it would be hard to make from plaster or clay as clay would probably crack in such a small amount in the kiln. Finally all the models where probably made from clay one by one modelling the detail in each one and the posture of them. This would take a lot of time and if it was made this way then this shows that they take pride in their work and really care about what they do as there is a lot of detail and meaning in the model.
