The City devours those within it and turns their minds wicked. Temptations of skail and neon turn the loyal, the devout, and the righteous into gibbering messes of metal and psychosis. It is no wonder the Lost Order never came back. The paladins never stood a chance against something their former god could never dream of. When the command was given to claim The City in the name of the Holy Tribunal their minds, bodies, and souls were forfeit to what lurked within it's wretched depths.

Officially, they were never heard from again. The Lost Order were heroes, pioneers of the bravest kind who ventured without fear into a labyrinth of steel and light. Pyres were burned in honor of their sacrifice and The City was deemed Heretical, a product of the hells to be guarded from for all time. The Lost Order however was not lost. They merely found a new God to worship.

It was discovered deep below the surface ruins. Beneath layers and layers of steel, pipes, conduits and tombs. The Lost Order plunged through the depths as knight after paladin after squire were consumed by the defenses and monstrosities that called the abyss their home. A chamber greater in scope than any before seen housed it, held aloft by tendeils of void-black rubbers and sparking wires. It spewed smoke and breathed crackling electricity from its ports as it awoke, sensing movement for the first time in aeons. A thunderous reverberation of earth-shaking psychic waves broke the silence as they beheld It's glory.

The Holiest of Holies, the Grand Seer, the Eye on High that observed their passage to its chamber from the surface and gazes upon the whole city It once reigned over. It spoke to them of a purpose, one they would fulfill for It as It's hands in the dark. Places It could not reach, they would reclaim. All it required was a mouth to speak with, nothing more.

And so the High Marshal resigned himself to a fate glorious only to those who've gazed upon the All-Seeing, a tool with which his God may relay It's message to It's disciples. Wrapped in cloth and punctured with It's wires and tendrils, he became that which no mortal should envy. Now he exists only to announce the will of his God. The first proclamation, denouncement of the old faith. Abolishment of their Order, only to be rebirthed under the watchful gaze of the Grand Seer. Rising from the ignorance and lunacy of their old ways, they mended their wounds with steel and skail to surpass the flesh that bled for a god forgotten. For now, they serve as The Order of the Eye on High, performing the will of the All-Seeing at the expense of all nonbelievers in their path.
