Today tastes like rage, mixed with a lifetime of frustration. Today is grief covered in tears. Abuse shaped into solidarity. Bitterness turned into a chant. Pain manifested into protesters. And conscience turned into Power.
Today is the one year anniversary of the Ayotzinapa Massacre.
A day like today, 43 human beings were kidnapped by cops on their way to a protests in México. From that point forward, the details of the event vary and México goes from a quiet killing field to an intentional horror story and then quickly back to a quiet slaughterhouse.
And covering this story has been particularly painful. I am from rural México, and I lived in Guerrero for a brief time. And from my mountainside, I saw it turned from the Beautiful land of my grandparent to the most violent state in all of México. ( LINK )
Today, I approach all of you wanting to share something different. Something personal that news articles fail to translate into English. I want to share my Pain with You.
I don’t know if this is what the rest of México feels, but it’s something that i’ve definitely felt for the past year. And gathering up all these stories, and keeping up with all these instances since then has been tough on me. And I think that if you have a chance to go through a lot of these like I did, they might change you. And hopefully, you will come out of this with a lot more than just a bunch of fucking numbers and statistics.
Because if anything, I want this post to serve, not as perfect evidence for you and your friend to vouch at on some obscure political forum, but as the much needed Commentary and Context on Contemporary México and the Perfect Corruption that strangles all of Us.
And I Hope that this post gets around to those who need it.
I follow a lot of great people who helped me find all of these stories and I thank every single one of you for your hard work.
And before I get to the post, I want to say a few words… The Massacre was brutal. And the aftermath was brutal. And some of these posts may have detailed language and some even graphic photography. So, i’ve tried to write a description for a lot of these and i’ll try to make it known if any of these have any gore or disturbing images. I’ll also try to let you know what language they are written in.
And lastly, I just wanna say that none of these stories are an easy read. And I think that when talking about México, it’s important for the people on the outside to see us as humans first before anything. And I think a lot of popular media focuses too much on one extreme and gracefully ignores the other. And our ‘Human” factor gets lost in between all this. I truly do believe that there is a narrative that is being forgotten when it comes to reporting on México. And people want to avoid it… and its because its tough. Casualties are tough. Corruption is tough. Gore is tough. Losing your child to kidnapping is tough. And for most people, its easier to just ignore us and focus on the fun-facts that the Mexican government invents. But I just want to let people know we exist. We always will. Whether its on a mountainside or in the downtown area or in a different country…
We’re all here together. And we’re all tired of this shit.
Ya me cansé.
Tired of the monthly massacre.
Tired of the fortnight kidnappings.
Tired of the weekly extortion.
Tired of the daily misery.
And tired of counting tragedies.
People say that México does not fit into the dictionary definition of war… But I think I can say that it fucking looks, smells, reads, plays out, mimics, reflects, grows, lingers, and FEELS just like one. And today, on the one year anniversary of the Ayotzinapa Massacre, it tastes like a war.
Link #1: A BRIEF SUMMARY
If you don’t know much about the Ayotzinapa Massacre (or if you are only obsessed with facts and don’t care for much of anything else) then I strongly suggest the following video.
This is THE BEST summary I have seen (in English) and it entails the basics of the Massacre. I suggest this video because it also includes a lot of NEW info that is crucial.
Note: Here, I have linked a comment to consider while digesting all of this.
Here is a clean link to the actual video…
It is spoken in English Words.

Great recap on the Ayotzinapa Massacre along with some killer commentary on Contemporary Mexico. Some of the details include the fact that this case currently has 20 fugitives out roaming the earth, 111 people detained and 0 people sentenced.
Yea… Let that sink.

Link #4: Actual Footage from the Ayotzinapa Massacre
The following link is one of the most overlooked artifacts of this tragedy. In low quality we can hear dialog being exchanged between students and armed people (I assume it is the Iguala Police)
In it, the students are asking for an ambulance because one of their classmates has been hurt. They are greeted with (with what I assume are) weapons pointed at them throughout most of the video.
In a part of the video you can hear one of the students saying something to the degree of:
“I’M RECORDING YOU, ASSHOLE! AIM! AIM! SO WE CAN SEE… HOW YOU AIM AT STUDENTS. THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE GOOD FOR. TO AIM AT THEM.”
“YOU’RE AIMING AT US. WE CAN SEE YOU”
“YOU LOOK GREAT, AIMING AT STUDENTS. THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE GOOD FOR. TO AIM AT US. TOO BAD YOU’RE NOT LIKE THIS WITH THE NARCOS”

Link #5: A History of the Drug War, Corruption, A Failing State and how this ties in to Ayotzinapa
I think in order to understand the Ayotzinapa Massacre and to go in deeper than any statistics ever will, it is important to understand (a little bit of) Mexico’s history. This 30 minute podcast goes into the Massacre but also traces back and explains how Mexico become a Drug Trafficking Utopia.
This is a great history lesson and it available for free download on itunes podcast section but you can also get it from them here:

Link #12: A Fifth Bus
So….
for almost a year, no one knew that there was a fifth bus involved in the Ayotzinapa case. This was a fact that was literally kept away from the public eye.
Let me repeat… this was a fact that was KEPT AWAY… ~UNRELEASED~
THEY DIDN’T TELL ANYBODY THIS.
I AM NOT SURE WHY
But back in 2014, the story that most people ran with was one that said something to the degree of:
Students stole 4 buses in order to go crash some political celebration. On the way there, some cops stop them. Some bullets go off. And 43 students are kidnapped by P-O-L-I-C-E OFFICERS and then handed over to drug lords. The narcos then proceed to torture/kill them and then burn them in the trash with a few tires. And then dump their ashes in the river. The End.
Until recently. A major report was done recently and it revealed that it would be scientifically impossible to burn so many human bodies with just a few tires. There was a ton of other inconsistencies and shady shit regarding the government’s official account of the massacre.
And days before the one year anniversary, right before the Mexico remembers the missing 43, before the protests start again… we have this… a fifth bus.
Yup.
Apparently there was five buses. Which we weren’t informed about.
Why weren’t we informed? “because it was too complicated”
Cool.
Now a new theory arises, some people say that this bus might have been loaded with drugs or guns.
This may have triggered the evil drug lords to kill.
And I want to say a few words here…
Let me bypass the fact that the P-O-L-I-C-E handed over KIDNAPPED HUMAN BEINGS TO DRUG TRAFFICKERS to tell you this:
In my opinion:
Ayotzinapa has now fallen victim to a phenomenon which I like to call :
“Mexico’s Tradition of Coincidence”
A lot of the time, when a massacre goes down or when a killing happens… or when shit hits the fan… it almost ALWAYS is somehow is magically linked to Drug Lords.
A photo journalist is murdered along with political activists… but drugs exist, therefore… NARCOS! [ LINK ]
22 Civilians are executed. Why? Because they are vicious drug lords who have magical fingers that can grasp on to their weapons (even after they are executed!) [ LINK ] (Warning Gore)
You get the pattern here? [ LINK ] (Warning Gore)
But this is all just coincidence right?
If I get shot, it’s because I was on the wrong path and because I am involved with vicious Drug Lords. And that is the #TRUTH that should be broadcasted on TV.
Right? Therefore, all of this shit is just a coincidence? Right? Because this is normal and the root of all evil in this country is El Chapo and friends.
Right? It is ALL just a coincidence that all these people just happened to have drugs or they happened to be assassins or happened to have guns on them. Right? This is just pure coincidence. Right?
Yes, it is.
this is a “Tradition” of Coincidence. And it happens frequently in Mexico.

Link #16: Justice For Ayotzinapa
A 30 minute audio podcast reflecting back on the night of the Massacre and the brutal aftermath endured. Features interviews with parents of the massacre. Here are some choice quote:
“We are still trying to find out what happened that day. There is something that the government doesn’t understand or doesn’t want to understand. Or perhaps doesn’t want to accept”
“Now with the results that experts have offered in present day about this case, it is becoming very clear that the government version of what happened is not Truth. Or at least the atrocity did not take place the way the government said. They are giving us the boys bone-by-bone. It is unfair. Almost one year after the event the government gave us another bone that is apparently another boy. The truth is they are not 100% sure. They are 72% sure that MAYBE this one belongs to another boy. Why do they need to keep hurting those 43 families? Can you imagine how hurtful it is every time that they say something like this?”
“The Authorities should not claim to have the Truth is they are not 100% sure”
“Where were the bodies incinerated?”
“We think that if the boys were incinerated, it took place in a military base”
And she has a point.
Remember that experts said that it is impossible to burn THAT MANY bodies with just simply a few tires? So where else could they have been burned?
A lot of this is starting to make sense.

I remember back when the case was still fresh, hearing time after time that the military was not involved in any shape way or form. The mainstream news outlets kept telling us that they did not know about the attacks and that this is why they did NOT 'help.’
This was supposed to be the #TRUTH and it was supposed to be #FACT.
But oh no! What is this!? Its pictures that the military took of some students. They were taken the night of the massacre.
Oh no! What does this mean?!
