It wasn’t often that Kurt found himself waltzing through the many different neighborhoods of Lima, Ohio simply to enjoy the weather, but it’s still what he found himself doing on this particular day. Maybe it was counterproductive, wearing a long sleeved silk shirt accompanied by floor length black pants; an umbrella clenched in one hand to complete the ensemble. Yet he didn’t want to actually be in the sun, he just wanted to enjoy the aesthetic of it. So sue him.
A familiar, large figure came into sight as he walked along, and eventually he got close enough to fully realize who it was. An odd smile crossed Kurt’s lips, a true mixture of bemusement and astonishment. Mike barely even fit in there himself.
He reached his free hand up to lower his sunglasses, staring at the other with a quirk of his eyebrow. “I can’t say that was my exact intention, no.” Kurt slowly removed his frames, closing them with one hand before tucking them into his breast pocket. “But thank you for the invitation, although I don’t think there’s nearly enough room in there for the two of us. Though I guess you never know.” His eyes fell to his chest, before he gracefully averted his eyes to his face. “Did I interrupt your nap? You looked like you were about to fall asleep.”
Mike smiled brightly up at his friend. He didn’t expect to see Kurt here, frankly he never expected to see anyone he shared the halls of McKinley with outside of them. Mike kept to himself, he stuck to the friends he had and tried to make those last. Years of moving around taught him enough about people. So he stuck to those he hoped to keep and Kurt was one of them. They were an unlikely pairing of friends, no doubt about it, but that’s what made Glee club so special to him. Despite how different they all were, they came together and shared a bond stronger than most friends.
A laugh escaped him as he sat up, his long limbs comically hanging over the edge of the pool. He started to wonder if he could get out of this thing without hurting himself. He’d worry about it when he had to get up. “No, no, I um...probably need to get out of here anyway. Don’t wanna get all pruney or sunburned.” He smiles knowing damn well he was about to fall asleep. He was grateful Kurt stopped by, he couldn’t recall if he had put on sunscreen now he thought about it.
“Yeah, you’re always welcome to share a pool with me. Even the kiddie ones.” He assured him as he rested his forearms on his knees. “So what is your intention for being on my end of town?” Not that he minded, it was good to see him. He spent so much of his time babysitting, it was nice to talk to someone his own age. “Must be somewhere pretty important dressed like that. You look good.”
