Golden sandals, made to be buried with a wife of Pharaoh Thutmose III, 15th century BCE. For much of his time as pharaoh, Thutmose was overshadowed by his stepmother and aunt Hatshepsut, who managed to hold onto power in Egypt despite the bias against women. After Hatshepsut died, Thutmose had many of the monuments to her defaced.
