Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
“Hey don’t worry love, we’ll be watching the news soon I promise you.” Emma glanced up at him and winked before her attention was back on the movie as she had started to eat the popcorns too, her eyes glued to the TV, this was a bit weird because after what had happened in her past she never really thought that one day she would be loving someone, she had become so cold and distant that it had amazed her how Blayne had been able to break her walls but she figured that had been due to the fact that he did the same that she did, that he had the hunger for blood like she did. Taking a sip of her coke she made herself comfortable while watching the movie.
When he asked her about classes she shook her head. “Just in the afternoon actually, the other day I was there the whole day so kinda made up for tomorrow so I just have the afternoon which I’m happy about and even more now since I know that we’ll be able to sleep in together.” Emma grinned as her gaze fell on Blayne. “I’m glad that at least tomorrow we’ll be able to leave at the same time.”
That was one thing she had right,it was very rare that they got to leave at the same time. "I think that for once our schedule will work out." Looking his green eyes with her greener eyes he grinned lightly."We can leave a few minutes before the classes,I'll drive you." He said turning his eyes back to the tv but making sure to watch the time so he doesn't miss his spot light on the news.Well not his spotlight but the guy he had taken care of,the same guy who almost took care of him but he was sure to teach the man a lesson about fighting back.
He was going to have to figure out a way to explain his injuries when someone asked about it,or if Joe would have asked about it. "Em,I need to figure out what to say....bar fight? breaking up a fight.Yeah, that one I was breaking up a fight." Stopping his finger in her hair since his arm began hurting again he rested it around her focusing back on the tv."Damn arm." He said in a really quiet voice moving his arm again before replacing it around her.
Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
Emma laughed. “You need to heal before you take your fine ass out there again, don’t push yourself more than you can take at the moment.” She had started looking for the movie, indeed she was going to make him take pain killers later on and she was going to keep a close eye on him, she could hear him on the kitchen when she finally found the movie that she had been looking for, placing it on the player she heard Blayne. “Its fine, don’t worry.” Emma had figured that due to blow on his mouth he wouldn’t be wanting to eat certain things that would hurt him or cause any sort of uncomfortable feeling.
Returning to the couch she felt his hand pulling her back to the couch and she snuggled with him. “Yep, my part is ready too.” She pressed play in the remote, they would watch the movie now and later they could check the news and see if they talked about the death, that was another thing that she liked to do too when she killed, was to see it on the news and then see that they couldn’t find any leads and always ended up dropping the case anyway, the movie started and Emma had her head on his chest, her eyes glued to the TV.
Laying down he pulled her to him and to the side slightly so they could both be comfortable. Running his hands through her hair he grinned with the first kill as he took a drink of his coke."I love this part of the movie, though that's not how you do it....never mind." he laughed softly pulling the blanket more around them."I think I'm getting a little to excited here waiting for the news." He laughed again then settled back down returning his eyes to the tv.He continued to run his fingers through her hair,it was funny if it wasn't for her he would have felt like there was nothing left in the world worth loving, but after growing up in the worst case scenario, she brought that little bit of love back into his life.
he felt pains all over the place but tried to ignore them as the movie went on."Do you have class tomorrow?" He asked quietly trying not to disturb the tranquility that had formed around them,he was feeling at ease."I don't have to deal with the professor and the rest of the mundane mass until tomorrow afternoon so I figured on sleeping in." his lips twitched into a smile at the thought of being able to sleep in and enjoy a morning of not dealing with other people and the institute.
Darker Hours-Injury.
Looks can be deceiving.
Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
Resting her head against his chest Emma smiled and tilted her head to the side as she listened to his suggestion, she pondered about it and shrugged. “Well that sounds like a good idea to me to be honest.” As Blayne started to talk about his latest kill she grinned as she listened to him. “That sounds like fun, I like the ones that make you work for it, in the end is a lot more rewarding than the ones just go down easily.” She had a grin crossing her lips at the thought of having to fight back to kill, was thrilling actually, more worth it.
As he mentioned the extra activities she laughed more and shook her head. “Oh its fine, don’t worry about it, you can make up for that when you get better.” Leaning in Emma had placed a kiss on his cheek before settling back down and taking her previous position. “The movie sounds like a good plan for now, let’s watch it.” Since he was sore she had decided to be the one to put the movie and was starting to get up to get to the movies and the DVD player.
Listening to her and how excited she was getting about a kill that makes her work for what she wanted he grinned."Oh honey, you know I love it when you talk like that.Makes me want to go out and find another....but I have to heal up from the last one,he should be on the news tonight, let's watch later." Sometimes he enjoyed seeing his handy work on the news only to watch them go cold days later. He watched her as she went to get the movie so he got up as well and went into the kitchen to grab them both a coke since he knew she would make him take pain meds later on."I'll make some plain popcorn, the hit to my mouth will be a pain in the ass with the salt." He called to her as he quickly got everything together and returned to the living room grabbing a blanket because he knew she liked to cuddle and be comfortable when they watched a movie.
Setting everything down on the coffee table he locked the door and long since rid himself of the ice pack. He took the time to hide his ruined clothes away before finally taking his seat back on the couch."Everything is set on my end." He made sure she was done setting the moving before he took her hand again pulling her onto the couch with him then wrapping the blanket around both of them. "You comfortable?" He asked looking to her with one of his genuine smiles.
Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
Emma looked at Blayne and listened to him, she was about to stand up to take the first AID kit back to the bathroom when she heard his question, the question had taken her by surprise and indeed brought memories of a time that she no longer was part of. Taking a deep breath she simply listened as Blayne walked to the kitchen before returning to the couch, glancing at him she decided that she could share a bit more of her story. “Was good, he was a great dad, he would do anything and everything for me, he would always be there no matter what, he was my best friend too.” Her eyes locked with his own as she listened as he talked about his dad and his brother and she could tell him that the memories did hurt.
This time Emma stood up and she was almost out of the living room when she heard him. “Well I think that is better if we burn it, I mean I don’t think that any trick will remove that much amount of blood.” She smiled at him. “Let me just place this away.” Quickly she rushed to the bathroom and placed the kit away before returning to the living room and taking a seat next to him. “Well what you wanna do now?”
He was glad she had a great child hood,he wouldn't wish anything like he went through on anyone else, once she was next to him, asking what he wanted to do. Shrugging he laughed. "Hmm,feel like watching slaughter house massacre?" He grinned lightly taking her hand in his pulling her to him wrapping an arm around her.He flinched at the pain in his arm and sighed."Next time remind me not to pick the ones that fight back,I mean he came at me like an animal but one I put that knife into him....oh Em,you should have seen those pretty hazel eyes fade." The memory of his onslaught put a smile on his face as he looked over at her.
"I would suggest....extra curricular activities but I'm hurting way to bad so I figured maybe a movie full of blood and screams." His lips twitched into a smile over the thought."Or....we can just sit here in the silence....maybe figure out a little urge or two?" Rasing a single brow he moved his head on the back of the couch so he was looking at her. He was tired from his battle with his latest kill but he wanted to spend more time with her since he had been doing a lot for Joe in the recent days.
Things Are Never As They Appear || Open
Walking through the halls of the institute,Blayne used his skills he earned from psychology to analyze each and every student he passed by.To the average student he was the nice guy with good looks who got a long with everyone but deep down he was very different. He was the complete opposite of the facade he put on for everyone else. Joe and Emma knew who he was,his brother,Lenny knew who he was, just not to an extent. He nodded to a few people as he made his way to the courtyard for some fresh air.
Placing one head phone in his ear he began to listen to his alternative music as he took a seat under one of the trees,he'd have to return to his duties as a TA before the next hour began so he figured opening up the psychology text book to add more to his already professional view of everyone, getting ahead would get him farther in his 'extra curricular activities' that he dealt with later on in the day.Sitting there his eyes every so often would drift up to look at the odd student before back down at the text .
Who knows how long I`ve been awake now? The shadows on my wall don`t sleep
There is no beauty without some strangeness || Joe + Blayne
Joe nodded his head graciously in thanks when Blayne said he’d be good as a professor. “Thank you, Blayne. I’m glad to hear you think so." He grinned. “Of course, I can’t be worse than Minelli." He really did despise the professor. Joe watched his friend’s eyes as he talked about Emma, but carefully not himself. It always was interesting, for him, to see this part of anyone. “That’s rather disappointing to hear. Although, I have no doubt she’ll convince the man that there’s nothing wrong." She was smart enough for that.
"I don’t mind the school itself, but yes. It does drag on. Every day is exactly the same, full of mundane, mindless matters." His accent hung onto the words. He’d lived here for 8 years now, but he was careful to never lose his accent. He loved being here, but it was a part of home he didn’t want to lose. “I was wondering," Joe licked his lips in thought. “Have you found anyone that might be… like us?" Normally, Joe had no qualms about talking about murder, but he didn’t want anyone to overhear them. They had to be careful.
One thing about Joe was his accent,it mirrored the one that Emma had,he figured it was something the two had in common and how they knew each other. His eyes lifted to the other man as he shook his head."No,no I haven't all of these people, they are....normal." By normal he meant that they didn't hold characteristics of people who liked to hurt others for fun. "Half of the people in this hell hole wouldn't step on an Ant." He sighed quietly leaning forward in his chair to look Joe in the eye. Looking around he lowered his voice to avoid listening ears.
"Joe,do you realize that half of these people don't even realize what is right under their noses.Half of them don't even realize that we exist that we do what we do?" He laughed softly with a smirk on his face that could say every thought that was on his mind."We have to look harder Joe,we need that one person with that tiny little unnoticeable twitch, that itch that is calling them to do the unthinkable...." he took a deep breath relishing in the thought of their little group growing,he couldn't wait.
Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
Emma had been surprised when Blayne had shown up, maybe deep down she shouldn’t be so surprised since the two tended to spend a lot of time together, she liked his company and she had found herself been able to talk with him about a lot of things, she had even opened up a bit about her past but just like him there were things that she kept it to herself. What had surprised her the most was the status that she had found him, beaten up and with blood on him, she had quickly started to help him and cleaning his face, wanting to make him feel better but there was something that she couldn’t do and that was take the soreness away.
Emma had been placing everything away that she had used when she heard him, looking up green hues were meet with his green hues and she tilted her head to the side, like she was trying to read him at that moment. “Sure, we can talk, whatever you wanna talk about I’m in.”
Blayne watched her with a smile on his face,he reverted back to his charming self that he used when he didn't have an urge to take a knife to someones chest."What was it like with you know, growing up with a dad and all,I mean a dad who cares about ya?" He glanced back at the window briefly before standing and sauntering over to the kitchen where he grabbed an ice pack returning to his place on the couch. He hissed at the cold against his sore arm but laughed remembering the look on the guys face when he realized he was going to loose."I mean,I had a father and all but he was....he was just there." his eyes looked to the side as he remembered how his dad was when he was high on his next big score.
His childhood wasn't all that great,he had his brother to look after and that was a task in his own,the kid was always getting into some kind of trouble. He sighed as he sank down into the couch throwing his feet up on it after making sure he kicked his shoes off."Why don't you come in here so we can talk?" he asked watching her putting the things away.He did feel better after a shower and a change of clothes."Think I should just burn that outfit or can we get the blood out of it?" He couldn't remember the tricks to remove blood from clothing but he would always manage to try it.
Darker Hours || Emma + Blayne
Night time, this often bought nightmares for Blayne. Not of the things he's done but of his past.He often stayed at Emma's apartment finding it easier to sleep when he was with her.He found a lot of things were better when they were together. His recent kill, the victim had fought back and he went to Emma to help him out and heal his wounds like she often did. When he came to her he was covered in blood, some of his and some of the man he'd just killed. He was tired from the fight he'd put up with and new after a hot shower and her tender touch he would be fine, and he was.
He didn't really talk about his past, there were parts he even refused to tell Emma, then again she had her own secrets as well and he knew it."Can we talk,Emma?" He was sitting on the couch staring at the darkness that laid just beyond the cool glass of her window. He was sore and held on to his his left arm ignoring the fact that he had took a beating himself, but the warmth of the blood that covered him when he took that metal pipe and repeatedly swung it at the mans face,it was something he enjoyed, something he would love to feel each time, but once his victim stopped fighting,he knew the fun was over."I just want to talk, that's all.Nothing to big or to small, you know."
There is no beauty without some strangeness || Joe + Blayne
It didn’t take long for Joe to lose himself in the book. Any number of minutes may have passed before her heard a voice from right behind him. Blayne sat down in front of him as Joe shut his book with a smile. “I hope to be a professor of Literature one day, Blayne. I’ll never get enough reading in." He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “How are you?" Joe knew the truth about Blayne. The darkness that existed in his own heart was there within Blayne. And more than that, he was useful to Joe.
"And how is Emma? I haven’t seen her for a few days, I hope she’s well." Joe admired the two of them for finding someone who worked for them so well, that matched each other. There was a beauty to it. Joe hoped he’d find that completeness soon. A part of him, remembering that girl from one of his classes, thought that perhaps he already had.
"A Literature Professor huh? Well,I can see it in ya,yeah,I think you'd be good at it." Nodding his head in agreement a smile presented itself at the mention of Emma. "She's doing the same old, fine and so on.I guess her professor has been keeping a close eye on her so she wants to stay out of the spotlight for a few days until the heat cools off." He ignored the question about himself. His green eyes stared up at Joe and simply shrugged his answer. There wasn't much he felt anymore as far as he own well being went anyway.
"I'm existing, that's all that matters, what about you? Still getting tired of the day to day life we drag on with here?" Truth was Blayne was growing bored,he needed something to occupy his time,to occupy his hands instead of the daily fiddling that came with being unoccupied. "Why are we here?" He asked wondering why they were to be meeting up unless he forgot, which was something he began doing lately out of his own way to not want to remember things. He knew that forgetting things were easier then dealing with the memories of things that had happened in the past.
There is no beauty without some strangeness || Joe + Blayne
It took every ounce of self control for Joe to listen to the teacher talk on and on. The fool. It was even worse, knowing that he was the true expert on the subject. Gothic romanticism was his area, and this imbecile was getting it all wrong. He had to be careful. All his plans would fail if he lost his temper. But still, there was this burning desire, buried in his heart, that he could not ignore. He missed the sight of blood. Poe was right, to say that there was beauty in death. Thinking about the feel of warm blood flowing over his hands, the sound of someone’s last breath floating into the air, calmed him, and the tense feeling between his shoulders relaxed. Now all was good again.
It was a relief, when he could finally leave the sound of the idiot behind, traipsing the corridors of the school along with the masses of students. While he considered many of them to be as pathetic as the professor, he still smiled at them, talked to those who greeted him. Sometimes, it was like a game. One that he was good at. He headed for the library, planning to meet Blayne. Of course, that wasn’t for another hour, but Joe was always content to sit down with a new book. Especially classic literature. One day, he would be a professor for Literature, and a much better one than he’d had.
The day was dragging on and on,he was growing more and more tired of the mundane lifestyle that came with the institute.Higher learning, that's what it was for. However,he rather sit in a room filled with victims then to sit through class after class of teens and young adults.Studying them was his thing,to pick the next score,to fantasize what it would be like to watch the life fade from their eyes, blue, green, hazel and brown, lifeless is how he envisioned them, that alone made his day better. It was easy to pick the weak ones from the ones who fought back,he made that mistake once, picking one that fought back, never again would he.
Finally it was over, leaving the class room he managed to find his way around the mangled mass of students and professors. He was suppose to meet Joe and if he didn't hurry he would be late,he couldn't be late, not for Joe.Racing into a half jog he made sure not to run into anyone on his way to the library. After opening the door the silence was a welcoming sound, silence was better enjoyed when sobs and screams cut through it but for now the library was just fine.Finding Joe with a book he rolled his eyes."Don't you get enough reading in,Joe?" He asked taking a seat across from him.
Headcannon #1
Blayne does everything Joe asks him to do,even if it's the most gruesome task he'd ever done before,he'd still do it because he was asked to.
