I got my tin hat on about Smoker today.

Egghead spoilers below cut

He needs to become an Admiral to continue fighting from inside the Marines but since (at least story-wise, not time-wise) Issho is still a new Admiral and Aramaki was just introduced and I don't see Borsalino stepping down anytime soon, I don't see Smoker becoming an Admiral. I'd love for him to continue climbing that ladder but that brings me to my next thought...

Even though we didn't see him with Tashigi in Egghead, he still called her. They are obviously still close even if she appears to be allied with SWORD, which I could argue is the PERFECT place for him to be since he doesnt listen to his superiors anyway (tell them, king). If he can't be an Admiral, then he has to be part of SWORD, right?? He is wearing his Vice Admiral coat in Egghead, so he is definitely still a Marine.

And okay, if he WERE to leave the Marines completely, he should join the RA because they share the same goals and we've known he knows Dragon SINCE BEFORE LOGUETOWN and we still have no idea to what degree they know each other.

The craziest and maybe worst idea I have is that he's been an RA spy but since we knew little to nothing about them the last time we saw Smoker, nothing was revealed yet. It also doesn't feel quite like him to be a spy and deceive his Unit since Vergo's position angered him so much. I don't lean too much into this idea, but with Oda you never know.

Looking forward to seeing him more though! I think he's definitely going to be an ally in the end.

‘Theatre Of Blood’ was playing on the television as Soap, Ghost, Gaz, Perveen, Pahwa, Cohen and Bashar crowded around it while they struggled to sit comfortably on the harsh tiled flooring; blankets around their shoulders as bowls and plates of snack foods and cans of everything from San Miguel to Red Bull were dotted between them all. In three days, you were all expected to be shipped off to some territory far away, a mutual effort between task force one four one and the RAF was far from a common occurrence, but whenever it was needed, your squadron would always hunker down with them while at base, as not only did it boost morale and not only did it allow for the bond between the task force and the squadron to strengthen, but it also gave you an excuse to be with your boyfriend for a while. It had been going on for so long now that it felt less like a way to make things easier and less of a way to keep high command off of your backs, and more like a tradition; more like sitting around and staying with family for someone’s birthday party, more like spending time with brothers and cousins and nephews and uncles. You looked upon the lads with great fondness for a moment, up until Price beckoned you to sit with him.
