Omg Jace and Alec do have chemistry.. I stopped the show at season 1 thinking it wasn't good and did not see any chemistry between Jace and Clary (or really any chemistry between anyone). I wasn’t going to reply to this until my friend was like, that’s just how Alec looks at anyone who isn’t Jace, it’s his general “nice guy” face

and that thirst face is forced but whatever.

Malec act, they do their jobs and try to bring that relationship to life, which is whatever, I appreciate the effort and I can appreciate the dynamic, but Jalec have a raw chemistry, they have a way of being around each other that there is a palpable charge where even if it’s not romantic, the tension does not feel platonic, which is noticeable when you see them interact. Anyway.

ok but look at alec’s face. he’s so in love with magnus. magnus just showed him his cat eyes. which is something about himself he can’t change but has been a source of pain. i mean his mother took her life bc he was a warlock, and while alec knows magnus is a warlock and what his warlock mark is, he’s also never seen it. he could look disguhsted, instead he looks curious and then smiles instantly. this was so well done. there is literally nothing about magnus that alec doesn’t love. he doesn’t hold his past against him, because it has made him into the man he is today. the caring, compassionate, loving, understanding man he is, that alec loves. he doesn’t hold the fact he’s had many lovers, because he has trusted magnus from day one, and magnus has given him no reason not to. he’s been open about his past relationships, and that’s why alec trusts him. he’s open about camilie, and others.

 alec is finally happy, in a healthy relationship with someone he truly loves. i’ll never get the people who look at this face, and how he looks at magnus and think “he needs to date other people to figure out what he wants” like this boy has figured it out and its magnus

Are you joking RN? You don't know why magnus is mad? Alec fucking lied to him about something that could've killed him. And magnus letting Alec know when he fucks up is not to making him feel bad, is to making him grow as a person, Alec was ignorant and racist in s1 and used to thing that "DW are slaves of they're impulses" and that SH are somehow superior now he has changed. Stop being so far up at alec's ass, him being "inexperienced" doen't give him a free pass to being rude to magnus lol

PART 2.  You’re totally ignoring magnus trauma in order to victimise Alec. He’d been in abusive r'ship before, he was lied to several times, shadowhunters used and mistreat him so many times so the closed himself off then he trusted and opened himself up to this one shadowhunter, that shadowhunter did the same as the others and lied to him that after he shared something fucking important with alec so obviously his first instict is to close himself off.

honestly idk if these two messages are from the same person, but i’ll address them both in the same breath.

him being inexperienced doesn’t give alec a free pass to be rude to magnus?  k, first off, alec didn’t CARE for downworlders to begin with and yet he put his life on the line for them time and time again and is now doing what he needs to do to make up for his past mistakes. he’s said some stuff, yeah, but instead of being completely rude and treating him like an asshole for saying/doing those things, magnus could explain to him why it’s wrong. not just stop talking to him and expect alec to automatically know what’s wrong then come apologize like that would make everything better. learning from his mistakes means being spoken to like an adult, not treated like a child.

if you wanna talk about pasts, let’s get into it then. having a difficult past doesn’t give magnus the right to treat alec like shit, either. so it goes both ways and you’re basically proving my point on the fact that people in this fandom are hypocrites. so what if alec isn’t a gazillion years old. does that mean his own trauma is meant to be treated as less than? he’s not alive to make magnus’ trauma seem more important than him. he’s not alive to kick magnus’ wounds and make him feel better about himself.  he has his own demons and magnus needs to be aware of that, too. instead, he’s worried about his own feelings and his own mind to even notice that alec is going through stuff as well. his fight every day since he was a kid, knowing he was gay and not being able to tell anyone. being in love with his best friend, his parabatai, and watching him be with countless women and probably bragging to alec about it as well. being considered as less than by his parents and always just missing the mark of them being proud of him. doing everything he can to be head of the institute only to be put ahead of jace bc his grandmomma is the inquisitor. and to be given it by jace because he didn’t wanna do it.

no, i’m not victimizing alec and i sure as hell ain’t so far up his ass to think that he’s some perfect angel that can do no wrong. if you read something other than the parts where i’m saying magnus is an asshole for how he’s treating alec, you would see that i AGREED WITH THE FACT THAT ALEC SHOULD’VE TOLD MAGNUS ABOUT THE SOUL SWORD. something that alec saw was wrong AND APOLOGIZED FOR IT, to still be treated like shit over it. but it looks like SOMEONE is too damn far up magnus’ ass to see that i’m looking at this from both sides. just because i’m talking about magnus doing wrong doesn’t mean i don’t think alec can do no wrong. i’m old enough and mature enough to see both sides of something to draw my own conclusion.

I'm not the person who sent those anos but did you just said that magnus only focus in his own feelings. Really? When magnus didn’t even know Alec he told him he did need to feel ashamed of who he is, when Alec lost his parabatai magnus helped him he didn’t have to but he did, magnus was the only one who talked to Alec about his attempt of s*icide and he let him know that he was there for him. Also Alec helping the downworlders doesn’t mean he wasn’t racist it’s just his job as a shadowhunter being racist it’s not just being rude. Like he protect mundanes not bc he like mundanes, in fact he’s really vocal about how much the deslike them, but he still protect them bc it’s his job.

Just … why? Why are the writers doing this? Where is the intelligent and mature Magnus we all know and love? Because that Magnus would never have made a deal with the Seelie Queen despite knowing that she has allied herself with Valentine. A deal that everyone around him is highly skeptical of. A deal that could bring about a war and many casualties (of which Alec could be one).

And why this open hostility towards Alec? When Magnus broke up with Alec at the end of 2x18 it was emotional and you could clearly see how much he still loved him, and how painful leaving him was for him. And after that he did a total one-eighty and now has nothing but contempt and disdain and hostility for Alec? How does that make any sense? Where is the explanation of how Magnus got from point A to point B?

Because while Magnus breaking up with Alec was triggered by Alec withholding the information about the soul sword, the actual break-up scene made it look very much like Magnus still loved and respected Alec despite thinking that he can’t be with him right now. It felt like he wanted to let him down gently. So if he wasn’t so petty and hostile in 2x18, why is he acting like this now? I just don’t get it.

I sincerely hope the writers have some ace up their sleeves here. That there is something we can’t see yet. I’ve seen the theories floating around of Magnus being a sort of double-agent who is playing the Seelie Queen, or that she holds something over his head to make him do what she wants and that he is pushing Alec away because of it. So hopefully there will be some as-yet-hidden reason for all of this.

SH 2X19: There’s something about Magnus

Magnus did not come to the Queen’s side because he was hurt or mad or wanted to even the score with Alec. Please stop projecting your petty mind frame onto him!  

Magnus did not breakup with Alec as some sort of punishment, and he certainly did not need a whack in the face by his warlock best friends for any reason. This isn’t some middle school angst nonsense. Please get it out of your heads!

Alec and Magnus are leaders in a world that had gone to turmoil, especially for the downworlders this seemed to be the end of the line for them, mortals and immortals alike. Magnus did not have the time to spite Alec or cut ties with the shadowhunters just to be petty. (This isn’t Pretty Little Liars, no offence to that show but some fans just can’t seem to tell the difference). Magnus spent an entire episode to choose between his heart and his responsibility, he made a decision and now he’s sticking to it. What he did after 2x18 had nothing to do with Alec, but everything to do with what was best for his people.  

“Magnus is hundreds of years old he should know better than to trust the Queen? Does he not know that she’s shady and manipulative?” - Magnus wasn’t born yesterday and you should know better than to think that Magnus would fully trust the Queen. He trusted that she couldn’t outright lie to his face, which was a step up from the Clave and their representatives.

What did Magnus need from the Queen? The access to her Realm should the time come when Valentine activates the Soul Sword or raises the Angel Raziel (i think that’s his name). The downworlders would continue their hunt for Valentine but Magnus needed a back up plan to ensure his people’s survival. That was the lesson he learned (from 2A) when downworlders dived into battle alongside the shadowhunters based solely on good faith, and ended up dying on a massive scale. Magnus could take care of himself as he told Alec but he had a community of warlocks, including children, depended on him so his decisions always needed to be made on a collective scale surrounding their best interest. 

What did Magnus have to do in exchange for the Queen’s guarantee of shelter in her Realm? As if the episode didn’t make it abundantly clear, the Queen was to be the one true voice of the Downworld, and her decision, to either cooperate or cut ties with the shadowhunters, shall be the final decision for all of them. Magnus kept his mouth shut when the Queen talked, came when she called because to him pride is less important than the need to shelter his people in the worst case scenario. As I said before, Magnus would rather his people be the Queen’s “loyal guests” than them be “dead”. I don’t know what you think leaders who refused to risk their people’s lives should do but whatever it takes to ensure the survival of their people first. Of all the Downworld leaders, Magnus’s protective instinct of his kind was the strongest. His heart and his pride came second to his family. 

Did it hurt Magnus to break up with Alec? You fucking betcha. It hurt him so much that it hurt me just by looking at him. The moment his mind broke free of his duty, the first thing that caught his eyes was the image of Alec and him together, and it took him no time to drown in the misery which is the happiness he could no longer have. But Madzie running to him had waken Magnus to the fact that his people were on the verge of being destroyed at any moment and that was what he should be focusing on. Magnus knew where his priority lied despite his heartbreak.

But let’s be real here guys, people hopped on to the “Magnus made a stupid decision” wagon not because they cared about the downworlders or the warlocks under Magnus’s protection, if they did they could see that Magnus already did the best he could given the circumstances. Their true gripe was that Magnus had the audacity to not look at Alec when he made that one-liner apology to the Queen at the Downworld meeting. Nevermind the fact that Magnus had put Alec in front of everyone and everything since the start of their relationship, risking not only his life but his reputation for Alec by defending him in front of the Queen and the rest of the Downworld, only to have his effort back fired on him. People didn’t bat an eye when Magnus made all that sacrifice, but the moment he dared to look away from Alec, he was to be eternally damned and that Alec deserved better. 

It had to be said that some of you view Magnus as no more than an accommodating half of a ship. Your intentions were so transparent I could see through them like a piece of glass. It’ll be fun to keep tab on all the accounts who bashed on Magnus after this episode. So don’t be surprised if some of you start sneezing the next time you gush about how perfect Malec is and how Magnus and Alec are only made for each other because that’ll be me laughing hysterically at your hypocrisy from the distance.

Okay so the next person who calls Magnus petty is gonna get some. I mean I just finished the episode and Magnus was alot of things in it. He was hurt, he was heartbroken, he was in pain and trying to figure out where his loyalty lies, trying to deal with being a leader and being in love with a shadowhunters, trying to balance a leader and a lover. But the one thing he was not in this entire goddamn episode, he was not petty. He is doing what he feels is right for not only himself but for the people who he feels responsible for, for the warlocks who are and will remain like his family, for his oldest and his best friends. Maybe he is a double agent, maybe he is just made a wrong decision, we don’t know that. But I just know that he is good person and a good boyfriend who is dealing with an impossible situation right now and who is in addition to trying to help the people he feels responsible for also trying to deal with a new relationship. So, please don’t call him “petty” and “a bastard” because he isn’t forgiving Alec or going back to him immediately. Okay? Thank you.
