“Alright, just let me know whenever you need that” she said and smiled at him again. Scarlett looked at her watch to see how much time she had left and the looked back at Daniel, “How long have you been in Thornewood?”

Daniel nodded, happy that he knew who to go to when he started.  Thinking way back he bit his lip, “I think about ten months.”  It felt like he had only been there a couple months, not ten.  It was ridiculous that it had been that long.

Jace knew it was a nightmare,but he couldn’t shake the feeling that it might happen to him in the future,something he never wanted to relive ever again. His breathing began to go back to normal,he began to quietly thank Daniel for being there,to help him. “I..I hope you’re right…I don’t want to be hurt anymore”

Daniel rubbed his back lightly as he soothed, “You won’t when I’m here.  I won’t let anyone hurt you.”  Giving him a sleepy smile he could tell he was helping. Jace’s breathing slowing down was important to him snapping out of the nightmare.  “What can I do to help?”

Scarlett couldn’t help but smile as the boy admitted proudly that he was a patient trying to get his life together, this type of stories made her love her new job and this place. “That’s quite amazing that you want that” She said and smiled at him again. “If you like we can go to my office, I have a few books there that you surely need for your classes and it’d be good if you start reading now"

Daniel blushed when he saw her smile.  It was nice to know someone had his back.  He nodded knowing that it would be difficult but he would whatever he could to achieve his goal.  “That’s okay.  If I need the books I’ll ask you when classes start,” he said cheerily, “but thank you for the offer.”

“You’re welcome, really I’d be happy to help” she said and gave him a small smile. Scarlett leaned against the table behind her and sat there, “Yes, I’m a new physician here” She said and smiled. “Are you a patient?”

Daniel nodded thinking that was really cool.  He didn’t know if they had any other physicians but he was happy that she was there.  “Yeah, I’m a patient.  But I hope I can one day be a staff member,” he responded proudly.

Allergic II Declan & Daniel

An allergic reaction? This is how that feels? Declan felt like he was suffocating. He legitimately thought that he was going to die as he sat there and grasped at his throat. 

Quiet white shoes padded on the ground as a nurse ran over to Declan and checked his mouth and neck for hives and sure enough as she checked they started to rise up on his skin. “He’s going into anaphylactic shock.” She called in for someone to come pick Declan up. “Hey kid, I’m going to lay you down okay?” 

Declan’s stomach hurt and despite the fact that his throat was swelling he threw up on the floor. When he did so, he had to bend over causing him to become disoriented and confused, and he fell on the floor next to his own vomit. 

The woman turned to Daniel. “Help me spread him out. He needs help breathing.”

Daniel was freaking out but channeled that panic to help Declan.  He didn’t want his friend to die from a stupid allergy.

The male nodded and focused on helping Declan and not the horrible things that were happening.  Getting to Declan he carefully helped him spread out on the floor, making sure that he had the possibility to breathe.

Cleanse || Dizzy

Elizabeth had taken Daniel’s hand gently then, trying to be careful with them as she led him to the music room. She hoped that maybe he would dance with her, for at least a short bit. She hoped that if they did it might deter his mind from his anxieties for at least a little while. 

Once they entered the room, Elizabeth felt safe. Or at least safe as she would ever be in this place. The piano had always welcomed her and calmed her when she had needed it. Elizabeth looked back to him, “Do you want me to play anything in particular? I spotted a couple music books around here somewhere…”

Daniel winced in pain when she took his hands.  But since it was Elizabeth it didn’t sting too bad.  He knew that keeping a loving touch on would be important right now.  The male knew that he truly loved Elizabeth as he followed her.

Nodding Daniel headed over to the books that had all the piano sheet music in it.  Even though it hurt he looked through them looking for a certain book.  Smiling a little when he pulled it out he handed it to Elizabeth.  It was the piano music for Ed Sheeran’s song Thinking Out Loud.

Allergic II Declan & Daniel

Declan hadn’t seen Leah that day which worried him, but he assumed that she was in therapy or art and had forgotten him. Hazel was recovering from a heart attack and had not shown up, so Declan sat there in front of a plate of shrimp that he had found in the staff fridge. He had never had seafood, and he felt like a king with the food that he considered fancy food. He was into a couple of them when his throat started to constrict. His eyes widened as he became confused what was happening to him. He tapped hard on the table as he gasped for air unable to ask for help.

Daniel was going to go get Bonnie some tea from the cafeteria to calm the pains she had been having but when he heard the banging on the table he stopped. Running over to Declan he saw the shrimp and that he was starting to get puffy. This is just like what happened to Bonnie when she was stung by bees. "Declan is having an allergic reaction. Someone help!" he called loudly so a nurse would be able to here.

Talk Therapy || Dr. Owens & Daniel

Johnny noted all of this down in Daniel’s file. It seemed, that for the most part, the young man was beginning to come to terms with many of the things that had happened to him after the abuse of his father. Of course, it was going to take time, but he was on the right path. Taking a deep breath, the doctor leaned back a bit. “How do you look back at the past? Does it still hurt…or are you finding it easier to look back at that time without the emotions hitting you so hard?”

Hearing that question Daniel let out a shaky breath.  He knew they would need to but even if they took years to talk about his past it would feel too soon.  “It still hurts to look back at.  It’s hard not having a flashback but normally I’m able to fight them off.  I mainly try not to think about the past.  Or my father,” he explained quietly.  Even now he was fighting off the flashes of his father.

“Oh that’s really good and exciting” She said and smiled at him while she looked at the screen. “It’s very nice to meet you too, Daniel” She said smiling again, while looking at him a thought occurred to her. “Well look Daniel, if you ever need any help with a class or want some books that can help you out just let me know okay?” She said, after all it was inspiring to see a young boy trying to overcome whatever his problem was and get an education, “I had a lot of classes during school and I have a lot of books that I think can help you out with your classes”

Daniel nodded as he smiled back at her.  He was so excited for this new adventure and once school started he would feel even better.  An even larger smile broke out on his face as he exclaimed, “Thank you!”  It was amazing hearing a stranger willing to help him with his quest for knowledge.  “Are you staff?” he asked as he closed his laptop, done with signing up for classes.

Daniel nodded knowing that she was trying to be nice. It was nice to know that someone worried about him. ‘I’ll go talk to the nurses if it gets worse. I swear,’ he typed on the laptop. He gave we a small reassuring smile to let her know that it really was okay.

“I’m glad to hear that,it’s just to be safe”. Veronica smiled ever so softly before she looked down at her watch and noticed that they had been talking for a while. “Well I better get to the library,feel free to drop in if you like”. She wanted to give him a hug,but it would have been awkward,so she just simply smiled again. “It was very nice to meet you Daniel”.She said before she began to make her way down the hall.

“oh hi” She said and smiled at the boy sitting there, “I didn’t mean to stare at you, I was just curious about what you were doing” She said kindly and nodded. Scarlett got closer to the boy and extended her hand out for him, he seemed harmless. “I’m Dr. Scarlett Sinclair, new around here” She smiled as she introduced herself.

“Singing up for school.  I want to be a pharmacist here,” he stated with a smile.  His speech was very slow now that he was speaking sentences.  Daniel was still making progress with his speech therapy.  “I’m Daniel Nadir.  It’s nice to meet you,” he added.  It was always nice meeting new people and now that his anxiety was calm he could get over his normal shyness.

Jace was trying his best to calm down but it wasn’t working,he was just glad that Daniel was around,he was the only person in Thornewood he considered to be his friend. “M..my dad,he…he is going to hurt me”. He just couldn’t get himself to say it was all in his mind,but for some reason he couldn’t help but think that it was real.

Daniel nodded knowing that Jace was going through a flashback.  Telling him that it wasn’t real wouldn’t help.  So what he needed to do was help him.  “Hey, I’m here.  Your dad wouldn’t be able to hurt you when I’m here.  No one will hurt you okay?” he assured him as he put a light hand on Jace’s.  The male knew what Jace was going through and though this may be feeding the fire, it was also making it calmer.
