There is no need to actually check or confirm the ideas that have guided media research for decades. The convergence between' history' and' new media' is a position where historical research will display its creativity forces.
The evolution of the media has been fraught with concerns and problems. Accusations of mind control, bias, and poor quality have been thrown at the media on a regular basis. Yet the growth of communications technology allows people today to find more information more easily than any previous generation. Mass media can be print, radio, television, or Internet news. They can be local, national, or international. They can be broad or limited in their focus. The choices are tremendous.
This timeline shows the growing importance of mass communication in increasingly compressed historical time periods. It is not an all-inclusive timeline. It is intended to provide an historical perspective and the basis for further study of the rapid development of modern media.
Rapid technological change in recent years has created an enhanced awareness of the importance and influence of different media in contemporary society. But in fact, mediated communication has been key to human existence ever since the birth of human culture. Once upon a time, old media were new and introduced fresh modes of connecting peoples and places. Furthermore, some media, once pivotal, are almost forgotten today. Yet, sometimes what we think of as an up-to-the-minute way of communicating actually bears important traces of ancient tradition of human interaction. Throughout history, people have used media in diverse and often unpredicted ways. That is why the power of different media is as relevant to ancient civilisations as it is to the digital age.
Media History has been an academic subject at Lund University since the 1970s, but under different names. Emerging from literature studies, it originally directed its focus towards newspapers as literature, and journalism as an art. Gradually the scope widened, with studies conducted into changes in media power, the production of journalistic ideals, and the formation of journalistic identities. The fundamental assumption of Media History is that history is needed in order to understand the media, but also that knowledge about media is crucial to the interpretation of history. If you are a history student, Media History will help you to improve your comprehension of the complexity and mediality of different historical source materials.
Social media refers to websites and applications that are designed to allow people to share content quickly, efficiently, and in real-time. Many people define social media as apps on their smartphone or tablet, but the truth is, this communication tool started with computers.
Too much media can be cause a problem. The more social media a person consumes exposes them to more problems such as addiction, cyber bullying, and exposure to inappropriate content, and psychological effects. Social media is fun, everyone is using snapchat, instagram, YouTube etc. but it starts to become a trend that can consume your daily habits. It’s hard to regulate yourself when using social media, one click turns into another and another and all of the sudden two hours pass by. These habits can quickly result in social networking addiction. Social networking sites such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and dozens of others allow people to stay in touch like never before. However, some people spend so much time on these sites that it begins to interfere with their lives.
As the time passed by there are things that have been developed, such as media. In the study of media, it seems now well-established that there is little ‘new’ about ‘new media’. As the name of this volume implies, ‘new’-ness is not itself new. This idea is both familiar and misleading. For while the intersection of history with new media involves themes that are familiar to those who have studied the phonetic alphabet, print, and broadcast media, the comparisons we often draw between histories of different media do not imply that we are simply re-running that which has come before. The history of new media presents us with something more significant than merely another opportunity to see familiar distinctions being reasserted. To be arch about it: newness is not always old news. This volume is not to be mistaken for one that concerns itself only with the history of media technology alone, or, for that matter, only with the history of media technology now (in the early 21st century) considered to be new. As editors of this volume, we take a more catholic approach, accepting at the outset that histories of media currently deemed to be new are worth pursuing, but also asserting that such a history of a currently new medium would be little more than the beginning of things that could be done when we collide the terms ‘new media’ and ‘history.’

Today, there is a tremendous variety of social networking sites, and many of them can be linked to allow cross-posting. This creates an environment where users can reach the maximum number of people without sacrificing the intimacy of person-to-person communication. We can only speculate about what the future of social networking may look in the next decade or even 100 years from now, but it seems clear that it will exist in some form for as long as humans are alive.

Media is useful because it is use for sharing some articles and informations, but not all you see in media is true.
Media has become an integral part of all of our lives. We use it to connect with friends and family, to catch up on current events, and, perhaps most importantly, to entertain ourselves. Media nowadays are posting or sharing informations that are false or fakes. So as one of the people who use media, we must be careful on what we share or what we post. We should be wise enough in entering the world of media. We should indulge ourselves in media to bring positive and prevent negativity.
The History of New Media
So this is the history of our precious media. We can clearly see that it took a very long process to make this media successful. We should be thankful that this was created to help make our lives easier. We should always be careful in actions so that this media would become better and would be away from destruction. “If we want preserve something, we should take care of it and stop letting the toxic attitudes of each one of us destroy it” -(WGB , 2019)In the start of time media was a very useful thing for us human beings. We use it to show our feelings and show to other the things that we have delivered. It is also important because we use this media for communicating with other people regardless of our physical presence at that exact location of the reader. Media has a very long history. Media simply started with paintings on the walls of the cave by our ancestors.
On the early stages of media, the people back then use it as a form of art to show the physical characteristics of animals. This was seen on 38,000 BCE where media were cave paintings. They also then use stone tablets to write there religious teachings. Another way that our ancestors communicate were by the use of smokes. Then they discovered writing materials, which made writing easier in the olden days.
On the middle stages of media, the people use it more to gain information about the things happening around them. Example of this is the newspaper where they can see what are the news inside their community. They also have made a way to capture images. Photography started 1826, it science, art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light. They also made a way to communicate with other people from far away. This was the famous telephone, which we can here in the present. They also made entertainment, which were the Phonograph, Radio, and Television.
On the present stage of media, we can clearly see that almost everyone is an active user of media. We see media all around us because almost everyone also have their own mobile phones. We can gain information around us with just a simple click of our cellphones. We can also talk to people from far away with our modern technology and that is not the best part, the best part would be we can bring this cellphone around us easily unlike the middle and early stages of media, which was hard to carry from place to place. We can simply say that the present stage of media is just the sum of the previous media but it became better.

This is another example of how versatile social media can be.
New media is like a megaphone. It amplifies your ability to reach more people. Much of education can and should take place in schools and other formally designated community institutions. But the world beyond the schoolhouse is crucial to education, and both traditional and new media are more important than ever.
