A fast-paced multiplayer shooter based on The Little Prince for LD38
Wew lads, here I am on another jam. Thanks to the help of everyone involved, we manage to make a very fun game for this Ludum Dare 38 and it was a very special year for LD, since it is it's 15th anniversary (yay)
Here's a video that was release about it and how cool it is.
For this game, we made it using Unity's 2D features. I guess that the biggest difference is that there's no constraints on size or graphics.
But then, Unity's 2D features feel very hacked in on the 3D engine. For instance, Pico-8 has a built-in tilemap and Unity doesn't. However, Unity also has a lot of physics and collision code (even though you wouldn't like to use the built-in physics for platformer games, for instance).
Anyway, there's both pros and cons to each engine. Specially and how you should structure your code. Since Unity has a entity and message system while Pico-8 just gives you a game loop.
In other news, now it's the time to judge the other entries for LD. I'm really excited to find really cool games among the entries ☺
