Went to place an order for my Club Nintendo yearly gift and came to this error. Way to make what could be frustrating awesome, Nintendo
Dear Phil,
We’ve hung out a few times and enjoyed some beverages and rather animated conversations together. I don’t know you that well outside of those interactions. I found Fez to be refreshing in a chic retro way (you were doing that style before many others, which is a tiny bit hipster,...

The next generation Xbox was finally announced by Microsoft this morning. Personally, I feel the specs are fairly impressive, and some of the quick-launching abilities seem pretty awesome, but overall, I can't say I was very impressed with the big reveal. For one, it took them a half hour to even talk about games...on a gaming console. As much as the entertainment features are becoming more and more prevalent, I can do them as it is on all of my current gen platforms.
Games aside, which Microsoft will apparently be talking more about at E3 in a few weeks, I feel there is much to be revealed about the console before casting my final judgement on whether it will be this or the PS4 in my living room this holiday. Honestly, this is mostly how I felt after the Sony PS4 announcement, so I guess time will tell.
One thing that really surprised, and worried, me is that Microsoft failed to announce an exact date and price. It was surprising because they really could have had an upper hand over Sony. It worries me, because it makes me feel they are sort of shy to announce what it probably an expensive price point.
Either way, I guess we will see how this "next-gen console war" unfolds soon enough.
I won this last night at the GDG Utah Lego Mindstorm event. My girlfriend and I built the little guy you see in the bottom right corner (his name is White Bandit) and we were tasked with popping three balloons of our color before any of the other contestants. To control the bot, we used a program, sent to an android phone and drove it around using the gyro on the phone, all communicating via Bluetooth with White Bandit. I got first place in the tournament and this was my prize.
I’m so excited to build it this weekend! Probably the most valuable thing I’ve ever won.
Thanks GDG Utah!
So many video games! There were so many games that game out yesterday. I ended up taking advantage of Target's buy two get one free deal and picked up Monster Hunter for the Wii U, Gears of War Judgement, and Tomb Raider (I wanted God of War Ascension, but they were out of stock). On top of that, Best Buy had a crazy clearance on a lot of games on Sunday. Thus, the rest of the games you see in this picture. All in all, the above is all the games I bought in the past few days. Way too many, but it was hard to pass up the deals. Hopefully I'll get to them eventually.
Saw the opportunity of a lifetime to do this in my lab today and couldn't resist taking advantage of it.
Ugh, it's Monday already?!
Yesterday I beat The Cave in my first play through. I don't think I will count that as "finished", however. Since there are a total of seven playable characters and you can only take three with you at a time, I will still go through it with another set of three characters, and maybe once more to get the seventh, before I feel like I can officially mark this one off my list for Four in February.
I started with the scientist, the time traveller, and the hillbilly. Each of their unique puzzles were fun. I think I enjoyed the scientist's level the most, once I figured out how to start it...I think for my next play though, I will choose the twins, the knight, and the monk. I was listening to an IGN Podcast Unlocked the other day where they interviewed Ron Gilbert, and he said that his favorite puzzle was one in the monk's unique level. So, I'm looking forward to giving that a try. Finally, I may give it one last play using the adventurer and pick two others that I enjoyed the first time through.
Once I get The Cave successfully crossed off my list, I will be moving on to Dishonored. I really can't wait to start this. I've heard so many good things about it.
I ended up downloading Fire Emblem: Awakening last night before going to bed. I was considering waiting to buy this but have seen so many awesome reviews that I couldn't resist. I'm really glad I decided to download it, too, considering all of the stories of retailers not getting their shipments in time for today's release. This game is now officially on my Four in February list, as well. I still don't know how I will finish it off....
I really like this song. That is all.
Also, I started The Cave today. It will be my first game in the Four In February session. I have only completed the first couple puzzles, one of which was one I played in the demo. While trying to solve it in the demo, it took me forever to figure out how to solve it, and when I did, I felt like an idiot for not figuring it out sooner. Either way, I am really excited to continue on with it and see what all it has to offer.
I came across this the other day and have been giving it some thought and decided that I will try to accomplish this goal, in order to try to give some of my unplayed back catalog some love. The hard part of this is deciding exactly which games to play...
Top on my list is probably Dishonored. I got this around the holidays last year and have been really wanting to give it a try.
I just bought The Cave last night on my 360, so I think I will include that.
Other than that, I can't really choose. I was considering Sleeping Dogs, but that may be a bit much to undertake multiple 15-20 hour games in one month.
I heard that the Homeland single player campaign is pretty short, so I am thinking of putting that on the list.
I was thinking I should probably have a portable game or two on the list to make more use of my time away from home. I was considering putting Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation on the list, but I have technically started it already, so I don't know if I want to count it or not. I got Ragnarok Odyssey for Christmas, so maybe I will start that at some point. Alternatively, if I get Fire Emblem in the next couple of weeks, I can give that a go.
Other games on my list that I'm considering:
Resident Evil 6
Prototype 2
Rayman Origins
ZombiU (which I've already started)
We will see where this month takes me. Hopefully, I can get a few of the games in my backlog finally played through.
Last night, the right shoulder bumper on my 3DS suddenly decided to stop working…since it is out of warranty, Nintendo wants me to pay them $85 plus shipping to have them fix it!
I decided to try to take it apart and see if there was anything I can maybe clean to make it work again. It appears that the only fix is a replacement button. I tried finding one online but all I found was sketchy sites or sites that were only selling them wholesale….
On the positive side, I took this opportunity to buy a 3DS XL that I’ve been wanting since they came out. So that’s awesome.
Because you called it “right shoulder bumper” I assume you own or have owned an Xbox 360. Just a random guess, been watching too much Monk. Anyways, I have the same problem with my 3DS and assumed I would be better off buying a 3DS XL. I’m going to wait for Fire Emblem, Luigi’s Mansion, and other good games to come out before I make the upgrade though. My current 3DS is still functional for Virtual Console games, and those that don’t use the right shoulder button extensively. Let me know if you ever find an easy fix. -blacklightarcade
Haha, you are right in that. I meant to actually call it "right shoulder button". I was contemplating getting the Fire Emblem 3DS that is coming out, but the XL has been too tempting. Also, I'm in the middle of Paper Mario, and even though I can technically go on without the button, I would like a fully functional system to play it on.
As for the fix, I will be sure to let you know. As long as I can come across a replacement button (the inside part with the button and the ribbon connecting it to the motherboard), it will be easy. There is a fairly simple (as long as you are careful) step-by-step set of instructions on ifixit.com describing how to do it.

Thanks, Panda Spock.
Got this today. Can't wait to play it! Unfortunately, I was too busy to start it tonight.
