Medium is an online publishing platform.

Medium is an online publishing platform developed by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, and launched in August 2012. The platform is an example of evolved social journalism, having a hybrid collection of amateur and professional people and publications, or exclusive blogs or publishers on Medium and is regularly regarded as a blog host.

Williams developed Medium as a way to publish writings and documents longer than Twitter's 140-character maximum. It eventually grew into a separate platform independent of Twitter's brand.

The platform software is simple. It provides a full WYSIWYG user interface when editing online, with various options for formatting provided as the user edits over rich text format.

Once an entry is posted, it can be recommended and shared by other people, in a similar manner to Twitter. Posts can be upvoted in a similar manner to Reddit, and content can be assigned a specific theme, in the same way as Tumblr.

In short, Medium is an atypical social platform, which is based on the long-form. It's a social media created for writing, an instrument created and thought for all those who in commenting Network, interacting or cure content.

YouTube currently offers more than 150,000 audio tracks on its site that video producers can use as background music for their videos. Those tracks, however, can’t be downloaded or remixed, which makes it hard to use them in creative ways. For users who want to do a bit more with their background music, however, YouTube today is expanding this library with a selection of 150 new royalty-tracks. The music in this new YouTube Audio Library can be downloaded, remixed and used for free forever.

The tracks, which are available as 320 Kbps MP3 files, YouTube says, can be used for “any creative purpose” – even outside of YouTube. The team says it searched “far and wide” for musicians and producers to work with on this project. It’s also soliciting submissions for additional musicians who would like to add their music to the collection.

WordPress file type is not permitted for security reasons

This article explain little bit about uploading files to WordPress and its error when WordPress don’t allow some file types. WordPress by default allow users to upload following file types: https://codex.wordpress.org/Uploading_Files

WordPress will show security warning like this, “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.” when we try to upload other file formats. This security warning also show when some web hosts are not permitted above file formats to be uploaded.

The easiest way to override this restriction is by adding following to wp-config.php, this constant all all file types to be uploaded to WordPress

How to Move the Unity Desktop’s Launcher to the Bottom of Your Screen

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS includes a long-awaited feature: You can now move the Unity desktop’s launcher to the bottom of your screen. It isn’t locked to the left side of your screen anymore. However, this option requires a terminal command or tweaking tool, as it isn’t offered in Ubuntu’s normal System Settings window.

This just takes a single terminal command. Don’t worry–even if you’re never used the terminal before, you can do this in a few seconds with a quick copy and paste.

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Launcher launcher-position Bottom

First, open a terminal window. Copy and paste–or type–the following command into the terminal window and press Enter. The launcher will immediately appear at the bottom of your screen.

To move the launcher back to the left side of the screen again, run the following command instead:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Launcher launcher-position Left

How to change the default boot order in Grub 2 in Ubuntu

Several people prefer to install Linux in dual boot mode with Windows. Some of them use Linux as their primary OS while some prefer Windows as their primary OS.

When you install Ubuntu or Linux Mint or elementary OS along with Windows in dual boot mode, Linux becomes the default OS. At the boot time, on the grub screen, if you do not choose Windows for login within 10 seconds (default Grub timeout), it boots up into the Linux.

You can change the grub behavior to make Windows your default OS in dual boot by editing the grub configuration file.

Grub Customizer can resolve the problem.

Install Grub Customizer in Ubuntu with following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install grub-customizer

You’ll present to a screen where you can see the configuration. You can see that Windows lies at the bottom after so many Ubuntu options.

You can move Windows over the first Ubuntu. You can use the arrow option from the top menu for this task, once done, you can save this configuration. You can see the changed boot order at the next restart.
