how is he supposed to not have a crush on her, again ? look at her. there is no denying that money must be treating her well, not to mention her profession requires her to stay in top shape. it must be one hell of a shallow business.
while flashing a cute smile, Peter wonders briefly if she thinks he is one of the many men who must be desperate to get close to her. all his friends think he should be going after her, assuming ulterior motives, but he just does not want to take advantage of her. if something is wrong with him for it, so be it.
❝ thank you, ❞ he says, not pushing the point about the drink not being on the house. considering the fat tip she left him last time, he will not stop her from doing what she wants. he could really use the money to feel a little better about his rent, which just went up.
❝ a singer's life has to be flashy, right ? ❞ not that he knows much about her besides what is on the internet or through other people's posts. then again, he did watch a few of her interviews. he could not help it. not wanting to seem completely distracted by the singer, Peter casually starts working on the next order after hers, conveniently making his way to where she is, grabbing a bottle nearby & looking straight into her eyes.
❝ some tricks are better reserved for private, y'know what i mean ? ❞ he winks, leaning on the counter for a moment. ❝ or maybe i should say they are reserved for special ladies. ❞ a chuckle follows before he heads back to his usual spot, grinning ear to ear & looking down exclusively at the cocktail coming together nicely.
one of the biggest reasons she keeps coming back here ( aside from how cute he is ) is that he doesn't give her any special treatment. around him, she feels like a normal person, not the renowned artist everyone else notices. it's like he sees the real her. that simple fact makes him so much more ATTRACTIVE in her eyes.
unfotunately, after a few times, it gets easy to spot when someone wants something from her, but he doesn't give her that impression. he appears more than content to make her smile. HE'S DANGEROUS. yet she tells herself that it is his job to make people feel seen & special, that he must be like this with others.
❛ yes, it can be. ❜ the lady agrees, knowing that it would be very hard for her to argue otherwise. Carol understands that she's in a highly privileged position & she doesn't take it lightly. however, she likes to believe that she has a good head on her shoulders, thanks to her mother & brother's influence. ❛ i'm grateful for all the opportunities i have. ❜ they didn't fall out of the sky. she WORKED VERY HARD to get here & had to put up with so much shit along the way, but no one wants to hear someone like her talk about such things.
instead, she looks down at her mocktail & tries to let him get back to work. despite it being slow, it's obvious everyone wants his attention.
her blue eyes look up when he approaches, a SOFT SMILE immediately blossoming on her features as she leans slightly forward. ❛ is that so ? ❜ oh, he's flirting with her all right. off he goes while she conveniently takes a sip of her blueberry-mint smash. ❛ my sleep schedule is already a mess, so maybe i'll get to see one of those PRIVATE TRICKS sooner or later. ❜
if he cannot bring himself to ask, then she might as well. life is too short, or she could be gone for a few weeks, such is her existence. even if nothing comes of it, she can already hear her bestie & bandmates telling her to go for it. ❛ it could be fun if you mean it. ❜

here they are, in the back of their realtor's car, because @outlawiism insisted on sitting with her. a lot is going on at the moment, looking at potential houses together to do their best to be somewhat settled before their family expands. it is the second property they will be seeing today, & the first didn't feel quite right for either one of them.
the blonde thinks they will know as soon as they set foot in there if it feels like HOME. maybe she's romanticizing it.
he easily makes conversation, talking about how excited they are for their future before leaning closer & whispering in her ear.

the lady knows him well. his body language is tense, yet he makes a great effort to remain soft when speaking to her, despite his mind racing a million miles a minute. it makes her feel a bit GUILTY because she should have said something, but she didn't, & now he's looking at her like he blames himself for this.

forget that it’s a random weekday that presents the luxury of looking at other closely. it takes only one second of eye contact before he recognizes the singer. his double take is exclusively done in his head because he’s smooth behind the counter. there’s no faltering allowed. from one drink to the other, there’s an ease in which Peter works that captivates everyone settled before him.
there’s a charming smile on his face as he shakes his head in disapproval, letting out a ‘nope’. he sways the bottle in hand, playfully tapping it from each end & giving it momentum before it flies up in the air.
he somehow manages to catch & balance it on his folded arm.
no wonder, with those ridiculous triceps to aid his forearm. the bottle flips again, coming around from the other side. it all happens so fast—it is on his head next, pouring into the glass before him.
it stays balanced as he laughs out. ❝ i might become a circus performer if my bartender career doesn’t pan out. ❞ he says, taking a quick bow after setting everything back in their place. ❝ i’m sure this is nothin’ compared to the kind of flashy entertainment YOU are a part of, but uh… hey ! your refill is on the house for not making fun of my trick, by the way. ❞
it doesn't take much for the blonde to reciprocate with a soft grin of her own. there's something about that captivating smile of his that is contagious, not to mention the positive energy he exudes. needless to say, he has all of HER ATTENTION.
a few seconds later, it becomes obvious that she's impressed. watching that bottle fly in the air & then him catching it with such ease. it's hard not to look at those BIG arms & well-defined muscles that his shirt doesn't hide. oh, ladies & gents must eat him up.
it's certainly working on her. when he's finished, she claps a couple of times since it's mostly empty. ❛ it's safe to say that you excel in either position. ❜ Carol's smile remains as they hold eye contact, a beat longer than most people should.
❛ did you just call me FLASHY ? ❜ the lady laughs, taking a sip of her refill. honestly, she tries not to be. if only he knew that she prefers to chill whenever she's not on stage. she's more than happy to be in jeans & a t-shirt as well because comfort comes first. ❛ I LIKED YOUR TRICK, i mean it, so there's no reason for it to be on the house. ❜ in fact, she will probably leave him a bigger tip now.
