Jason had been standing outside next to this bridge for 2 hours before he heard footsteps approach. In his defense it had only rained for 1 of the 2 hours, but he decided early on that his thoughts hadn’t concluded so he would stand there until they did. What was he thinking about? Everything. The last time he talked to Bruce, keeping a sleep schedule like Tim told him to so he could realize just how badly his lack of sleep had gotten. The last man he killed, what the point of being Red Hood was, Raven.. would he ever talk to Raven again or would he just be content in leaving her alone? He could break into the Tower if he wanted to, but seeing as he’d already overstepped his boundaries the last time he was there that probably wasn’t a good idea. They probably had extra locks on the place. Hell, they were probably all looking for him to give him a piece of their minds for kissing her like that. If he were to be honest most of his thoughts these days drifted off and ended up on her. Usually mistakes like these didn’t bother him at all, cutting people out of his life was as easy as reloading a gun for him. But for some reason he couldn’t shake that maybe she was owed a better apology than the one he’d given her that night. He’d rested on the idea that if he saw her again he would say something for certain, but now that she was standing next time him he grew completely silent.
Blue eyes left her and stared back at the bridge for a moment, breaths visible puffs of fog before he turned back to look at her. All of the strength he’d thought he’d have to say what he meant to had vanished and he was right back at square one. “A cold’s the least of my worries.” The rain was warm, the day being humid and hot already but it was starting to grow colder. The black tank and black tactical pants he wore just weren’t cutting it in his current state anymore, so he knew he’d have to go in soon like she said. He couldn’t help but purse his lips, the sound of rain pattering drowning out the third bout of extended silence before he finally broke it for good. “Look, Raven..” He started before cutting himself off, head bowing downward as shame and guilt wracked his features. Rain dripped from his bangs that were plastered to his forehead, hands balling and unballing as he worked up the courage to say what he’d been meaning to for the past 4 weeks. “I’m sorry for what I did the last time I saw you. I should have asked, and I don’t want you to think that I had any bad intentions or anything. It was really stupid of me, and if you don’t want to talk anymore I get it-- and I’m sorry I didn’t say this sooner I just-.. I wasn’t sure how to. But I just want you to know I was really interested in everything we talked about, it wasn’t just some stupid ploy to try and get with you or anything like that. I just.. I don’t know what came over me. So I’m sorry.”
