a friend and i had some Thoughts about BFDIA 13 and it lead to me creating an AU/theory: Pin 2
The idea is that Pin saying that Golf Ball extracted the red from her body and used it to make limbs in IDFB was a lie, and in fact, the Pin we see from IDFB onward is a robotic clone created by Golf Ball after the real one never made it out of Hell, which is the true reason she's initially white. As much of her memories were implanted as possible, but it was obviously imperfect, as when Coiny seemingly dragged Pin out of Hell, he actually permanently released her mortal soul and she now can't be revived properly.
It goes further to explain that any future appearance of Pin's "revival" in BFDIA or any Pin interactions with the main cast before IDFB is just Coiny hallucinating and everyone else, deeply saddened, attempting to humor him- he was so distraught by how he messed up the process that he created a narrative in his head and everyone else decided to roll with it for his own safety.
It explains why Pin got so derailed after BFDIA, and it gives new light to the "I don't know why you keep pretending BFDIA was fun" line from Pin in TPOT. It's not her talking about her own experience, it was her alluding to Coiny's delusion that he saved her and that everything from then on out was fine.
We came up with this and another one where Leafy doesn't get revived by Firey and instead claws her way out of Hell with the power of pure hatred, proceeding to kill a bunch of people in the process- let me know if you want to hear about that one too.
tpot 12 and bfdia 13 spoilers
with one complaint gone, i have a new one
because while i am very satisfied with how they finally had one appear in tpot 12, in turn i want to bash the writing team for bfdia with a large stick because the pin content in bfdia 13 feels like they spat in my face specifically. why the fuck would you DO that. why would you get everyone's hopes up. WHY WOULD YOU TIE IT INTO THAT INCREDIBLY UNFUNNY 3D SCENE. it's like every time bfdia takes one step forward (they actually dialed it back for a couple scenes here especially the ending and it doesn't feel like i'm watching a baby sensory video anymore) they take 2 steps back. god. i don't know why i even subject myself to the show anymore when it's clear i'm never going to have anything good to say about it that isn't marred by some more major complaint.
honestly this isn't even to mention how they've just set up the fireafy arc to become the ultimate regression. the fact that firey went all the way back to recover leafy after all that time makes the "GRRRRRR I HATE YOU YOU STOLE DREAM ISLAND" garbage in BFB make even less sense. it's like. are they even LOOKING at what they're leading up to or are they just blindly pressing buttons.

people who are in the fandom, this is a /gen call for you all to convince me that edgar from electric dreams is not, in fact, that thing i just said. you don't get to cite his voice his voice doesn't count i know it's cute but that's besides the point
update: thank you for the legitimately interesting insight! it seems to me my initial impressions of this character were very wrong. i'll be watching the movie with a friend soon if all goes well, so i'm excited to see what you guys are talking about in context!

I just started playing Disco Elysium with a friend. Honestly I'm kinda disappointed- in myself, not the game. The game isn't bad- it's really funny and well-written- but it's because the best part of the game are the spectacular failures you can have in dialogue and action, and because I have "don't want to make the pixels on screen upset" disease, I've been very civil and reasonable with every NPC.

hate uninformative error messages with all my heart and soul. "oopsie! something went wrong" WHAT went wrong. tell me the steps that it went through to get there. show me a crash log. no don't tell me "the server went splat uwu" tell me that there was an outage at this location and it is preventing me from using the servers. there is a difference between being cute and charming and withholding vital information
