When Daphne gets ill she’s secludes herself and basically turns into a hermit until whatever she has passes. Having a mild phobia of germs herself, she finds it the considerate thing to do instead of walking around and risking the chance of infecting others.

" Where have you been? I've been looking for you all over this place." Daphne said as she approached her friend, coughing into the crease of her arm." Here, take this from me before I drop and break it." She urged handing the other female the small box. Though the worse of her cold was finally gone her voice had yet to fully return. The important thing was she wasn't contagious so slowly she were able to return back to her so called social life." I got your gift, normally I wouldn't have accepted it but instead I just called a favor,” She cleared her throat before continuing” and got you that in return. If you don’t like it just give it back and I’ll keep it for myself.”

“But, Father, I’ve defeated every single monster I’ve come up against. I-I’m… I’m the most famous person in all of Greece. I’m… I-I’m an action figure!”

Robert was having difficulty understanding why she was feeling discomfort. Had he done something? Perhaps this gesture was too much, but it was really too late to take back and part of him didn’t want to. He had to think about how some people had different comfort levels, and the last thing he wanted was for Daphne to be anxious for any reason, especially if he caused it.
“Well thank you for getting my hopes up,” he jested, trying to ease her nerves before taking a seat across the dining table. It was a comfortable distance where he could carry on the rest of the conversation. Though, her next question did stump him for a moment.
“Hm, good question. If you did not like it, then I would leave it up to you if you find me a worthy company. If I do get to have your presence, it will be my pleasure.” It was difficult to tell if she was being serious at the moment or not, but he answered as if she was. It was safer, and she did just the slightest intimidate him.
A hint of a smile graced her features as Robert responded to her question. It was responses of his like that in which made it hard for Daphne to find a reason to not want to be in his company. Any one else she could easily avoid or ignore all together if she wished. But him, there was something about him that made her forget how to do those things.
“ Are you always this much of a gentlemen or is this some kind of a act just for me? Because if it is you can just drop it right now. It’ll be much easier for this developing friendship of ours if you did.” She told him as she reached for her spoon to finally try the soup looking dish before her. Turning around she signaled for a waiter and requested a empty bowl for Robert. Thanking the woman after giving her the dish, the brunette placed half of the gumbo in the bowl and slid it to him.
“ You’re not allergic to anything you put in here are you?” She asked while placing some broth onto her spoon. It certainly smelled delicious. That she could honestly say.
“Murder is going too far. What will set us apart from the ones deemed as villains, then?” She cannot tell if Daphne would really have it in her to kill a man, and to her it was an unforgivable act. Her knowledge on the Greek law system allowed her to already know that it was not any different form the Atlantean, and even they had not needed to persecute anyone due to how good the citizens are. But one person, one virus encased in a human being, can ruin it all and it had a name that really did sound like a disease- Tiberius.
“If you ever meet a man named Derek, I want to let you know that you have to be on his good side. It is a matter of life and death, and if you ever anger him, he can do serious harm. He’ll be attending the function as well and- the plan is that while I am going to the dance with Tiberius, I will pretend to leave with Derek.”
“ Calm down princess, I’m only partially kidding. ” Partially being the keyword there. Though she had once been so disgusted with a person that only seeing them lifeless would have pleased her, Daphne never had it in her to actually do such a thing. It were in areas such as that was she mostly all talk. However while that were true, it didn’t mean she weren’t capable of doing so.
“ So let me get this straight, you’re attending this thing with one creep only to pretend to leave it with another?” Sitting back in her seat she chewed her food and thought about her friends plan. She loved the Atlantean before her but there had been a few times she couldn’t help but to question her mentality. Crossing one leg over the other, the brunette went on questioning,” What is it are you trying to achieve exactly?”
"What dress are you wearing to the ball?"
“ I’m not going to the ball Mimi.”
Like anyone?
“ I don’t like anyone. I do have a few people I can tolerate more then others. And by a few I mean two. What can I say? Being social just isn’t my thing.”
You don't want to be asked by anyone?
“ Why would I want someone to ask me to something I have no interest in going to? In what world does that make any sense?”
You are not a little interested in going to the ball?
“ What reason to I have to be? You know, besides giving the damsels here something to gossip about the next day.
Gatherings like this are nothing new to me. However, this one could be if you have a reason for me to be interested.”
who are you going to the dance with?
“Who said I was going at all?”
Despite making this very dish several times before, he was always a bit nervous serving it because of how different other’s tastes would be. The dish had bold flavors and textures, including the incorporation of meats with seafood. He had the taster in mind when making it, knowing how Daphne never mentioned that she had an issue with any sort of meat, whereas he had other friends who would be aghast when he mentioned that he liked sea food. He noticed her facial expression, which was not the easiest because she looked rather neutral. It was when she started questioning him when he figured out what he can say next.
“Of course, Christmas is not celebrated where you come from, yet. Apparently Santa Claus is Saint Niklaus who was Greek, and he is celebrated. You are here now though, and in the winter solstice festivities, nothing kept you from giving me a present. I appreciate your candles, and they did work and I had a peaceful night’s rest after days. In comparison, this hardly feels like anything.”
He chuckled at how she was suddenly cross examining him. Perhaps it was his good mood from the holiday spirits that made him open up a little more. “Oh no, while your sister is lovely, she isn’t the one I like. I am in no need of gold and the secret way to Olympus now sounds very tempting, though your company seems far better as a reward. That is, if you like this.”
Quirking a brow as she were briefly educated about this Saint Nikalus fellow, Daphne allowed Robert to finish before going on to clarify to keep him from (possibly) getting the wrong idea. “One minute. I gave you those candles because I assumed they would have benefitted you more than they have me. If you believed it was because of this holiday then you’re mistaking. Trust me when I say it was nothing more but me completing my daily objective of doing one good deed a day.”
Gods my timing is terrible. She mused to herself not enjoying the tinge of discomfort she was feeling. Giving him the gift she didn’t expect for him to give her anything in return. She didn’t want anything. Nothing but for him to relax and hopefully live life a little. Chatting with him the day he arrived she could tell that Robert still possessed that fear of those shadow creatures he spoke of returning. Feeling his edginess having a mild way of effecting her, it was later that night did she get the idea of gifting him the candles. There was nothing more to it.
“You can just forget I mentioned that because there is no chance I’m telling you that.” Not that there was a secret way into Olympus in the first place. She was actually just thinking out the box with that one.” If I enjoy this? So what you’re saying is my company will only be reward enough for you if I approve of your dish? So just out of curiosity; what would you think of my company if I don’t enjoy it?”
Robert sat her down on a chair in the dining hall, telling her that he’ll be back in a moment. A few hours before, he began chopping some vegetable and meats and gathering spices to create the gumbo. This was a recipe that did not need cheese, and traditionally it never needed any milk ingredients so he thought it might be perfect for Daphne. But he still wasn’t sure, because everyone had different taste palettes and this was not authentic Greek that she might be used to.
“This is gumbo, a stew that is passed down in my family that I wanted you to try. It’s my Christmas present to you, and if you don’t like it, you can tell me. I won’t mind, since everyone has differing tastes."
Daphne was in her room mending a few of her shawls when she had gotten the request from Robert to join him in the dining hall. It was both unexpected and completely random, but considering it was him and she weren’t doing anything that important did she agree.
After they arrived and she were seated, a thank you was given before silence fell and she watched him leave for a brief moment. Sitting back into her seat she crossed one thing over the other and pondered what he could’ve been up to. A million and one things crossed her mind and it wasn’t long until he returned causing her to find out.
As the steaming bowl of gumbo was placed in front of her, Daphne listened to his explanation. Looking to him she questioned,” You made this for me?” At the thought of it at an instant, her mind went to a place where she knew it shouldn’t have. That place where it always went when someone did something nice for her. The place that often caused her to close up and go on the defensive.
People only did nice things for you when they want something. That’s what she taught herself to believe over the past few years and now because of it, she were beginning to doubt the males beside her intentions. Stupid it was since she knew Robert was a good guy. But then again, even good people had their bad qualities.
“You know that Christmas isn’t a thing for for me right?” She questioned before answering her own question seconds later,” Obviously not if you’ve done this.”She sighed before getting to the point,”Alright spill, what do you want? Gold? The secret way into Olympus? My sister? What?”
@daphzeus
“You sure? I feel like I’ve had enough sweets to last a year so I don’t mind if you have it all.”
“ I’m as sure as I’m going to be. Well if you take half you’ll have enough to last you another year.” She told her before asking what she really desired to know,” Do you normally give chocolates to random strangers?”
