Allen Edmonds is largely a household name, and today we had the opportunity of reviewing one of their classic iconic shoes, the Park Avenue. The first thing you notice about a pair of Allen Edmonds is the durability of the shoe. The upper on these shoes is incredibly sturdy for calf skin, though they never seem too heavy. The sole is thick and un-padded solid leather which makes them a bit uncomfortable until they break-in. For a thick formal shoe they are reasonably easy to wear and take care of. I recommend using shoe trees and the appropriate shoe bags for the storage of a shoe of this value and quality.

ALLEN EDMONDS FACTORY TOUR PT. 1

Allen Edmonds is a special brand of footwear, from the moment you step into their factory to the moment you realize, “wow that was an amazing work place where all shoes are made with loyalty”. Allen Edmonds is an American brand based on tradition and heritage. Alongside Chicago based, Horween Leather Company, where Allen Edmonds uses the best cordovan leather in the world, it makes their shoes more precise and look great. The process of the shoes were explained best when Chief Marketing Executive, Collin Hall, said “The 212-step Goodyear welt process is a time-tested, fantastic way to handcraft a shoe. There are certainly cheaper ways to make shoes, but until we discover a better way, we’ll stick with what got us here.” With that said, I truly understand the determination and heritage of the Allen Edmonds brand.

Our day started off with driving from Milwaukee airport to check into our rooms at the Port Hotel. Accompanied by a bed and breakfast, a cheerful staff and of course overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan, it was a great stay nonetheless. Pictured above are the boots @allenedmonds had sent me to shoot and also give my feedback on them. The Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots (Walnut) are true to size and a great look in and out of the office, I believe this pair is a great foundation to build a spectacular outfit. Another great distinction with Allen Edmonds shoes among other dress shoe brands are their vast selection of different sizes (ranging from size 6 to 16 and narrow AAA to wide EEE).
