This may be kind of going hand in hand with my previous “kiss,” post.

But

Gale coming to terms with the fact that someone could love him despite his condition. That he was more than just his magic. That he is not only an impressive wizard, but a man whose heart deserves to be taken care of. That he deserves to be fought for.

I know those ideas were foreign to him. But when he does concede that every one of those are true, simply because for the first time someone shows him the love he deserves, I think it’s a truly beautiful thing 😭

Kiss 💋

I’ve often found myself absolutely melting at this part of his love scene. Besides the obvious getting to kiss his immaculate chest that I’m so obsessed with, I find it heartwarming to think about how he feels in this moment. Something that has reminded him for so long of discomfort, shame, and fear of his impending doom, is being gently kissed now by his lover. It’s almost as if we’re telling him in this moment, “I see you. I see your past and your pain, and I love you for every bit of it.” 😭😭

Today’s prompt was going to be easy: the orb devouring a magic artifact.

But then I started thinking about those first days before he told anyone. A secret he was keeping from the others until he could figure out a solution that he was sure didn’t even exist. How it gnawed at him both figuratively and physically. How he kept going, moving through the pain without letting it show. Trying hard not to become another burden on the group. Then when the camp went quiet and there were no other distractions and he was only left with himself, he stayed awake late into the night, wondering if he’d see another morning.
