the most hilarious thing to me is when people tell me shipping pearl and connie is wrong bc connie is a child. you guys DO realize connie is going to age, right??

we don’t know the gems’ exact ages, but to guesstimate based on what we’ve been told:

greg met rose when he was about 20. rose was 6,000 years old then at minimum, as we already saw her looking like a mature, composed adult in pearl’s projection of her, from ‘more than 5,000 years ago’.

connie meets pearl when she’s about 12 and pearl is, as we know, over 5,000 years old. let’s say she’s 5,500. so when connie’s 20, pearl will be… 5,508.

WHERE’S THE DIFFERENCE, PEOPLE.

Connie shouldn't be with anyone over 18 though tbh, because she's a minor. Or even 16 really. If Pearl was 19 or 100000000 years old I would always disapprove, because it's a minor and an adult. Whereas Greg is an adult, so it's okay for him to date other adults! So long as the person isn't a minor, 20 year old Greg can date them! It's how wide the age gap is that matters. It's the fact that adults who date minors often take advantage of the minors, and manipulate them. Whereas when both people are adults there is likely a much better power balance and you more commonly get mutual respect. That's what makes it okay for a 20 and 40 year old to date, but not a 10 and 30 year old.

YES, SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS IMPORTANT. BUT I WANT STRAIGHT ALLIES TO TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AS WELL.

• It is still legal in 29 states to fire someone for being gay/bisexual/pansexual/not straight.

• It is still legal in 32 states to fire someone for being trans.

• It is legal in 29 states to evict someone for being queer.

• It is still purposefully difficult for same-sex couples to adopt children.

• Bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, asexual, and demisexual people exist.

• So, you know. It’s not “gay” marriage that was legalized. It’s same-sex marriage that was legalized.

• Queer people (especially minors) are still getting beaten to death and kicked out of their homes.

• Being queer is still illegal in 79 countries.

• Being queer is still punishable by DEATH in 5 countries.

• The fight is far from over.

tumblr is so US-centric i’m afraid the majority of people on tumblr are going to stop fighting for LGBT rights now that same-sex marriage is legal in the US

please, please, please, don’t forget that this is NOT the end of our fight, and while the same-sex marriage may be legal in the US, there are still hundreds of countries where it isn’t legal (mine included) - and what’s worse than that - there are still countries where homosexuality is considered a disease/punishable by death. PLEASE don’t forget about that.
