Barty smirked back at Bellatrix before shrugging, “To go murder someone, obviously,” He was joking, of course, but his tone was playfully serious, “Or get drunk. Whatever comes first, I guess.”

“Why not both?” Bellatrix added in an equally serious, but teasing tone. “Would you mind if I joined you?”

Barty laughed with her, tongue tracing his bottom lip before he nodded his head slightly, “Where were you off to anyway, Bellatrix? Causing trouble somewhere?”

Bellatrix shrugged. “Simply out for a stroll. I can’t cause trouble so openly, yet.” She smirked. “And you, where are you heading to?”

“Definitely. There’s something gorgeous about Winter. I’m just not a big fan of the cold that accompanies it,” she said with a small laugh. “A snowy backdrop would work really well for your wedding though, I think.”

Bellatrix snorted in amusement at her words. “Dearie, are we witches or not? What happened to the heating charms? Have you forgotten them?” She said with a smirk on her lips, before she nodded, her smile widening ever so slightly. “I think so, too. And the Summer one would suit you the best. Hopefully, you’ll do better with the cooling spell.” Bella added the later with a sly smirk.

“Pride is the bane of us all,” Rodolphus said, giving his head a shake as he studied the wound beneath his shirt. “And admit weakness to you, the queen of pride?” Rodolphus questioned, glancing up at her with some level of playfulness in his eyes, despite his pain.

“For the love of Salazar, admitting when you need help isn’t a weakness.” Bellatrix sighed, rolling her eyes. “But, suit yourself. I was planing for us to bond over your brave, battle wounds, but alas. You are too proud.”

“No. It’s nothing about the wedding, you certainly don’t have to worry about that right now. It’s about my father.”

“I wouldn’t exactly call it worrying about it. I’m a little snappy because Druella is a little annoying.” Bellatrix sighed, before a frown marred her features. “What’s wrong?”

Violet laughed, nodding a bit, “That’s true, but even so, I think I’ll ignore her desires on this one.” She shook her head once, “No we haven’t chosen a date yet, I’m thinking Summer though. Tell that to your Mother, we couldn’t possibly have our weddings so close together.”

Bellatrix’s smile widened, mischievously. “I shall do so. I was always rooting for a Winter weddings. The ice and the snow, the chill in the air, it brings it to a whole other level, doesn’t it?”

Peter’s breath held in his lungs, a Russian proverb or two Antonin had taught him coming to mind to continue this playful yet taunting banter. But if there one definitive thing he had learned about Bellatrix Black it was she never did anything she didn’t want to. And if she hadn’t bit yet, she wasn’t going to. Their shared extracurricular activities at school were going to stay just that. Once again Peter was a tad disappointed, but he knew it was never something that could last long. Even still, one last go at a party celebrating the very place their encounters happened would have been nostalgic. Or maybe that was the alcohol talking to him.

Peter visibly relaxed, finally pulling his gaze away and setting his hands in his lap. He’d let Bellatrix believe she’d won this little battle. “It’s n-nice to s-see you, B-Bellatrix.”

Bellatrix carefully observed her companion, keeping her distance to both his and everyone else’s eyes. She knew he was easy, and had quite the soft spot for her, fear or not, and she knew it would’ve been easy to just drag him somewhere to pass her time. But, contrary to popular belief, Bella was not the cheating type and she never will be. So, she’ll just let him believe he’s won this one, outsmarting her.

Hearing his words, she gave his a somewhat reluctant nod. “Yes. Likewise.” She added after a moment.

The tension had grown thick, and perhaps Bellatrix had let her mind wander back to their school days as Peter’s had. To the untrained eye, this pairing must have seemed odd, even unfriendly. But Peter had kept Bella’s gaze again, thoughts of making one final move beginning to form when there was a loud commotion starting across the room. Peter slowly moved his eyes to see what was going on, a new smile pulling his lips when he saw James and what appeared to be Regulus Black cheering together. And a quidditch match?

Peter turned back to the eldest Black sister, grabbing whatever cup was left on the table before standing and coming close to her, whispering in her ear. “Until next we meet…” Why he’d ever had any courage towards her, Peter would never know, but he walked off to join the crowd, not even giving a glance back, his smile bigger than ever.

“More than tolerable? Congratulations.” Barty doubted he’d find someone like that, “Well, good luck to you both. But, if things go down hill,” He shrugged a little, smirking at her, “My door’s always open.”

“Yes, well... Caught me by surprise as well.” Bellatrix admitted with a sigh, before she erupted in laughter. “Thank you, I will remember that.”

Barty laughed, “Yeah, they can try all they like, darling, but this man is not marrying.”

“I do admire the strength of you character, then. I was successfully talked into giving in, but fortunately, my future husband is more than tolerable.” Bellatrix winked. Thankfully, Rodolphus, indeed, was more than tolerable.

“You should thank the Gods that your name isn’t a flower because my Mother would have violets everywhere and everything purple if I let her,” she said with a laugh. “No, not yet.”

“At least she wants the colour to be something other than a boring, uptight white. Not even ivory white, no. Pearl white. Blinding white. And lace, so, so, so much lace.” Bellatrix pouted, sighing. “We didn’t either. I’d like it to be a winter wedding, but Druella keeps pushing for June.”

“Very well then.” Ilona nodded, “By all mean, feel free to go about the rest of your day then.”

“Yes, indeed. Good day.”

“Darling, you can just admit that you’re smitten with me now,” Rodolphus said, attempting to keep up their typical level of banter but failing. He settled down on the divan in the room, pulling the material of his shirt away from the wound, glancing down at the mark. “It’s…difficult to achieve the results that I had achieved in my last mission without some…injury.” The words pained him more than the wound itself.

“As if I’d ever give you the pleasure of it. My pride does not allow me.” Bellatrix teasingly added, her eyes following him to the divan, assessing the way he winced every now and then. She followed him after a moment, her head tilted as she seated herself down, keeping close to him, yet being distanced enough, just for her pride’s sake. “Do you, err, want to talk about it?” Bella asked, clearing her throat uneasily.

Evan could feel the smile slowly creeping onto his face. It was an entertaining mental image, their parents high. “We could put it in their pipes,” he mused, taking another long drag before passing it back to Bella.

Bellatrix nodded with a smirk, taking back the makeshift cigarette, inhaling another lungful of the sustenance. “Yes. Let’s do it. Lets get them high as kites.” She giggled, feeling herself getting more and more relaxed.

“Urgh, tell me about it.” Bellatrix rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “Druella is far too pompous, even tacky sometimes. We seem to be in a same problem here. Did you two set the date?”

Bellatrix nodded at his words, arching her eyebrow in agreement. “Good luck with that, then. Until your family starts to pressure you into marriage, enjoy yourself.”

“Well, we shall let time be the judge of that, won’t we?” Ilona gave a slight nod. “So, am I right to assume that there is a reason for you giving me a peace offering, as you put it, that is not just for the sake of clearing the air?”

Bellatrix nodded on Ilona’s words. Time will show, indeed. Following her words, Bella chuckled. “Actually, I have solely come for the peace offering. I don’t really require anything at the moment.”
