What’s This? [from The Nightmare Before Christmas] - Fall Out Boy
Friends premiered on Thursday, September 22, 1994, at 8:30, to generally good reviews and solid but not initially spectacular ratings.
DAVID CRANE: We had absolutely no idea what this show was going to be. For us, it was just another pilot. We’d just had a series canceled. We were thinking we’d never work again, so we were scrambling. You pitch a bunch of stuff. We were doing this thing at Fox and at NBC. Friends was feeling good, but it was just another pilot. Or it was just another pilot until Jimmy Burrows wants to direct it. Excuse me, James Burrows. We thought, That’s crazy.
And he really embraced what we wanted to do. In the pilot, the structure is really loose. We started out doing a much more traditional story. It still had to do with Rachel leaving a guy at the altar, but we had an original version where her parents came, and the act break [before going to a commercial] was her parents’ showing up. It wasn’t good. We approached it again and made it much looser. The structure is loose and unconventional. There’s no event at the act break. Ross [whose wife, a lesbian, has left him] and Rachel are each looking out at the rain. In a pilot, that seems crazy. You couldn’t do it today, and I’m surprised we did that then.
Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s so clear so immediately that the two of you, on some level, belong together. As lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different. You just work, whether you’re in love or creating things together or foxhole buddies or partners in crime. It’s so clear, right off the bat, that this is what you’re supposed to be doing, that this is what you’re for. You meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest of circumstances, and they help you make a life. I don’t know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but. It definitely makes me believe in something.
perfect fall days make even gas station parking lots look pretty. (at Oxford, Mississippi)

Autumn makes me want to live in a small town with tons of history and character. Leaf-strewn cobblestone streets. Old buildings and homes that range from small cottages to large estates. Maple, oak, and pine trees line the streets and cluster in yards, and when they all turn orange and gold in the fall it’s the most beautiful sight. Small local businesses thrive. It’s walking distance to your favorite coffee shop or diner. There’s an ancient library on the edge of town with the greatest selection of books, comfy armchairs, tables, and big windows to read by. Time moves slower there. Everything is safe.
October. In bed, you’re warm and cozy and you hear the rain falling on your window and the rumble of thunder outside, as you listen you slowly drift off to sleep. 🍁🍂
You ever have those moments where, just out of nowhere, you’re hit with a rock-hard Halloween boner? You are suddenly consumed with desire for pumpkin spice flavored everything, orange and black decorations everywhere you look, skulls, pumpkins, spiderwebs, spooky music, movies like Hocus Pocus and Trick R Treat, stripey stockings on the cheap, weak-ass little fog machines, ect. even though it’s the middle of goddamn June?
in the mood to wake up in an old little cottage…. large warm quilts covering me and the person i love…. the windows touched by early morning frost and the world is pink and sleepy outside… i open the creaky door to see pine needles covering the ground, my garden sticky with chilly dew… im drinking hot chocolate and i have not a single worry.
