lwj moves into wwx’s apartment, and wwx just runs with it, because he heard some rumours that the company is in some financial strife, and holy shit, it must be true because the vice president of the company is homeless and staying with him now apparently??

lwj gives wwx money for household expenses, and wwx thinks it’s his salary lmao 

lwj proposes to wwx in that emotionally constipated way he does, and wwx mistakens it for a promotion, and accepts it giddily because hell yeah, lwj talking about commitment probably means he wants to extend wwx’s contract!

he figures out that lwj is planning a wedding and doesn’t question it at all, because hey lwj is probably doing this for tax benefits?? wwx is a Top Employee, so he’ll just take one for the team, he guesses???

wwx figures out at some point that he has feelings for lwj, and freaks out about it. this is followed by a fumbling, heartfelt love confession from wwx, only for lwj to go, “wei ying, we’ve been married for three years, ofc i know you love me. also the adoption papers are here. we should start filling them out.”

For the WangXian date/interview - the meet the family for both sides would be so funny if a) WWX still didn’t know, or b) Jiang also didn’t know

Wei Wuxian has a conniption when Lan Wangji tells him over breakfast one morning that Lan Xichen (the president of the company!!!) wants to meet him, but eventually figures, ofc LXC wants to meet him! WWX is basically LWJ’s right hand man in the company now! His status must be at least worth a meeting with LXC!

It’s a good meeting, if casual. WWX and LWJ go to LXC’s house for dinner - LXC cooks and LWJ helps out, and WWX just stands there, charmed by the Twin Jades, and trying to figure out if this special treatment is leading up to a promotion.

LXC casually mentions that he would love to meet WWX’s family as well, and WWX figures “yep, they’re planning on expanding their operations to Yunmeng, ofc they’d want to speak to some Yunmeng folks” and invites both brothers back home with him.

“It’s a business thing!” WWX tells Jiang Fengmian over the phone that night. “But be nice!!! Because Lan Zhan is really nice to me, and Xichen-ge cooked for me personally when I visited his home! Lan Zhan said he’s always wanted to visit Lotus Pier! So I’m going to take him all around my favourite places when we get there!” JFM and YZY exchange dubious looks like hmmm, this doesn’t sound very business-y to me.

Jiang Cheng scoffs the moment he hears WWX is bringing his bosses back to Yunmeng like, “Are we expecting that WWX has a real job? He probably hired some actors to come home so Mother wouldn’t tell him off for being unemployed.”

On the other end of the spectrum, LWJ and LXC are preparing gifts and LWJ is practising his “please entrust your son to me” speech.
