“oh ivy. i’d love to leave you alone.” he pulls against the vines. “but i’m not here for you. i’m here to find Harley. I know you’re her friend. I know you know where she is.” he knows the best thing to do right now is to NOT hurt the vines holding him to the wall, but he was starting to feel a little bit anxious. pressing his lips together, he struggles a bit more. “come on. let me go.” he clenches his hands into fists. “I don’t want to hurt your plants.”

“You were do for a visit anyway,” she says. Hands slip into her pockets. When the phone rang, she half expected it to be Alfred calling. Every so often a little feminine presence was needed, and she might be the closest thing to it for understanding the pressures of the cowl.

Diana glances at the computer. Teeth clenching. Her assumptions were right. 

“Speaking from experience,” she says as she makes her way to Bruce, “They’ll find out at some point. It just depends on how you want them to find out.”

he flashes her a small smile. the billionaire looks towards the other for a brief second and then towards his smashed computer. slowly, he gathers up the smashed remains, dumping them into the trash. he doesn’t know what to say. more often than not, diana leaves him speechless. maybe it was her quick reactions to anything he had to say. 

“I know.” he replies quietly. “I just...I want them to be better than me. I want them to grow up and do something GREAT with their life. to avoid all of this.” he gestures towards the batsuit. 

then he pushes his glasses up his nose. “but you’re right. they’re going to find out eventually. they’re smart kids.” diana was always right. “i appreciate you coming.”

gotham city.. it was dark, gloomy and crime seemed to roam the streets. mary-jane knew that she shouldn’t have come out alone but she was headed to Wayne manor, to see if she could get a job, it was better than working at a diner, more money in it for her so she could escape her current apartment. She clutched her bag to her chest, walking swiftly.. the sun had already set, she definitely shouldn’t be out on her own, at least not without a weapon on hand. It came out of nowhere, although what was mj expecting ?? a gun suddenly pointed to her chest, the thug wanting her bag although mary-jane refused, silly perhaps.. 

“you’re not taking my bag!” she retaliated, it was the wrong thing to say, a sudden pain went to the back of her head as the man pushed her against the wall, her head hitting the brick. still her hands clutched harder now onto her possessions. The man tried to remove it from her grasp, “let go! let go of me!” she screamed, shouted… she always had been a feisty one.

it was always dark. the lights in this part of gotham were out, something that irritated Bruce to no end. he’d tried to get on the mayor about it, tried to pressure them to replace the lights in this part of Gotham but the mayor didn’t care. perhaps he was more corrupt than Bruce thought. Perhaps he’d need to be replaced again. pressing his lips into a thin line, the bat perches upon the roof of the building, observing the streets below him. it was quiet that night, too quiet. he always hated the quiet nights. it meant something big might be happening. then he heard the voice, the scream and he drops from his position, slowing his fall with his cape, landing evenly on the ground, blending in with the shadows.

in an instant, the batman knocks the man out before he even notices who was behind him. it was a quick takedown, barely seen. he supposed the darkness helped him in that sense. “you shouldn’t be out here at night.” he deepens his voice, disguising himself again, melting back into the shadows. “it’s dangerous to walk in Gotham at night.”

☆ﾟ. * ･ ｡ﾟ, The canine was a bit cute, but the caution on the side of the vest creates a bit of caution despite the words of assurance. Instead, he chooses to only smile at the canine. ❝ Cool name, eh, Ace. ❞ If it was really alright, maybe next time. He’d even bring a treat if that was acceptable.  ❝ So why the caution? ❞ Clearly unaware the canine was a service pet.       

“oh. he’s a service animal. so, he’s doing a job right now.” he gently scratches behind the dogs ears as Ace rubs his face against Bruce’s leg. “well, at least, he’s always aware if he’s needed.” he picks up the tennis ball from the bag next to him, throwing it as hard as he could. the German Shepherd chases after it.

FUNCTIONS LIKE this were once something she looked forward to– of course in vanaheim they had always been joyus. the music had been beautiful, the wine was sweet and there was dancing. this seemed stiff, boring– even the dancing seemed to be more akin to swaying back and forth while standing in one spot. what was the point? 

of course she knew there was a point– hel, she’d only come because it was encouraged by her mother. a way to make midgard see their family wasn’t always…terrible. after all her father had left quite the sour taste in the realm’s mouth. now they would all see that loki’s children wanted nothing to do with that. she just wanted to live in peace. 

‘ i know i’m not meant to complain but this wine is awful, how do you manage to keep it down? ’

the billionaire hates social events. he very much hates acting like a pompous asshole for the cameras, acting like he’s SO  MUCH BETTER than anyone else. in reality, just that morning, he’d had a panic attack and he just wanted to be in bed, fast asleep. But Bruce Wayne, son of Thomas and Martha Wayne, had promised he’d be here and he never broke a promise. 

Ace, dressed in his service dog vest, with a little bowtie attached to his neck, nudges his face against Bruce’s hand, alerting him to the presence of the other. glancing towards her, an eyebrow raises. 

“I don’t.” he replies, raising his glass of sparkling water. “i don’t drink that shit. medication and all.”

he doesn’t lie to her. doesn’t condescend. robin bites at the inside of her cheek, considering. he will let her go. she knows that. bruce–so far at least–doesn’t play tricks like that. if he’s disappointed, he probably won’t take it out on her. but. she can do this. and she should.

“can I just–stick with you guys for a while? at least Ace doesn’t expect me to start doing tricks.”

“of course you can stick with us, sweetheart.” he presses his lips together, glancing around the  ballroom, feeling the eyes upon them. Ace positions himself in front of both of them, an ominous presence warding off those that want to approach them. 

“You know i don’t mind your presence. And Ace loves you.” to prove his point, Ace turns his head towards Bruce, tongue hanging out of his mouth.

she smiles and coos softly at the dog. although kel would never own one herself, she happily reaches down to pet him softly. “sorry i didn’t mean to intrude on his time to relax. ace is absolutely beautiful though.” more often than not the dogs in gotham were mean, and this was a refreshing change of pace. “i’ll be honest bruce, i pictured you more as a cat person.”

“a cat person? I mean. I am. But I’m also a dog person.” he shrugs. “Never really got into the whole ‘dog cat people’ argument. Can’t I love both of them equally?” he chuckles, reaching out a hand to brush it through Ace’s hair. “Thank you. Ace is a beautiful boy. And very intelligent. Watch.” he lets go of Ace’s leash. “Ace. Go grab me that tennis ball.” he points to the one sat a few feet from them. The dog darts off, returning with the ball in his mouth.

“ He is too precious!” she exclaimed, she was always so happy every time she would see a dog. “ Thank you, I wasn’t sure if I should ask that” she started to pet that adorable angel. Dogs are really the best, right?! 

“ How old is he?” 

“ace is two years old.” he replies quietly. 

pressing his lips together, he watches as the other begins to pet the German Shepherd in front of him. Ace sniffs her hand. “He’s the best dog I’ve ever had. Passed all his training with flying colors.”

   ❝ —mister wayne? ❞ clark clears his throat; fingers moving to push his glasses back up on his nose, before holding out his hand to the other.  ❝ clark kent, daily planet. i was wondering if you’d like to be interviewed? the chief wants you as front-page news. ❞ he hunches in the doorframe, shivering in the rainy-ness of gotham.  ❝ i hope you don’t mind, i brought my photographer — ❞ he could hear jimmy getting ready to speak up in the background, felt him shivering behind; he undoubtedly had his jacket over his head to protect his camera from the rain. 

   ❝ —-if not, that’s totally fine, i can just slip you my card and we’ll be on our way!  ❞

he bites back the urge to correct the other on his title. it would be easy to just go along with this. he hated reporters, especially ones that ‘just wanted a scoop’ and he didn’t know the other. he didn’t know if he could trust him, if he was going to try to dig deep down into his personal life like all the others had. he supposed he could give him a chance, slowly reaching out to shake his hand. “Dr. Wayne.” he corrects. “but you can call me Bruce. Everyone does.” there’s a slight pink tint to his cheeks that spreads before he resumes a neutral expression. he steps aside, gesturing for the other to step into Wayne Manor. 

“Please come in. It’s pouring outside. Do you want some tea? coffee? a towel perhaps?” perhaps this was the persona that he kept on for the public. perhaps it was a bit of the real him shining through. 

“I can’t promise I’m the most interesting person. But you can ask a few questions..”
