Cronan staring at Bog in outrage. "You can't ground me! I'm a king! I have rights!"
"You have the right to go to your room quietly instead of me dragging you there."
He gasps. "You wouldn't dare!"
But he's backing towards the stairs anyhow. Just in case Bog would dare.
Bog shifts, then gets up from his throne. "You want to test that?"
Cronan's suddenly halfway up the staircase.
"This is barbaric unjustified tyranny!"
Cronan staring at Bog in outrage. "You can't ground me! I'm a king! I have rights!"

“Defend all you like. You have been kidnapped, and you cannot stop the takeover. Your options are to fight blindly, or accept your loss and spare your soldiers.”
“This is impossible! You can’t- I’m a sovereign monarch! You can’t do this to me!”
There was a lot of magic sparking around him, by now, but fear of being deemed too dangerous to keep prisoner and getting fed to that big smelly goblin held him back.
“That kingdom is my birthright!” He snapped. “My mother is Queen Quartzine! She wants me to rule it! Not some- some treacherous interloper!”
The fact that Queen Quartzine had been reportedly consumed by her own dark magic about a decade ago probably meant her intentions wouldn’t hold much weight, but in his rage Cronan wasn’t thinking quite straight.
miscellaneous-muses:
Bog narrowed his eyes, seeing him glance around. He doubted any escape attempt would be successful but he’d have to watch closely.
“If I can, I prefer to avoid war. With this, either you will have to surrender… Or you will be fighting at an extreme disadvantage. Moreso than you were before. And now that your incompetent rule has been brought to my attention, I do think I will be taking your kingdom. For the sake of your citizens if nothing else.”
Cronan was fuming silently as Bog talked, until he got to that last statement. Then he went stiff with horror, his eyes widening.
“...N-no. You-” His shock melted into fury, and he surged forward. “You can’t! You wouldn’t dare! You can’t just take it! I have- I have rights! I have the right to defend my kingdom! You can’t just- just assume rule of it!” The air was charged with electricity around him, the occasional green spark emphasizing his words.
miscellaneous-muses:
“And I demand to know why you marched your army up to my border! And you’d best tell me quickly, or I’ll send let Brutus know you’re his next snack. He’s always wanted to taste fairy.” He threatened, pointing his staff at him.
Cronan winced at the thought, his magic dissipating. He doubted he could brute force his way through this one. Which meant he’d need to stall so he could think of something.
“…Oh, that?” He waved his hand dismissively. “That wasn’t an army! That was merely a search party. One of our own dear goblins stumbled into your part of the forest, and we were debating how best to proceed once we’d realized it. I wasn’t sure how to contact you, after all. We could have settled this in a two minute conversation, if you hadn’t been so rude as to snatch me.”
“Oh, I’m very sure that’s true. Actually, no, I won’t pretend, you’re lying through your teeth and we both know it, so don’t try. And don’t call me rude when you started this.”
Cronan grit his teeth, glancing around. He couldn't help noticing a few decent escape options, if he could fly.
He sighed in annoyance, scowling again. "Fine. Perhaps my intentions were less than peaceful. This is still no way to wage war. This is childish."
Cronan: "Some king. You can't even keep your goblins from trying to eat people. That big one snapped at me again!"
"Brutus..." He grumbled. "If he tries one more time I'm sending him to jail."
Cronan huffed, but he seemed placated. "I'm aware I'm a snack, but he doesn't need to take it so literally."
He froze, realizing he'd made a joke. Mm, woops. That risked his aesthetic.
"I mean. Yes. Keep him in line, if you please."

🗝 maybe something with Rosalyn 👀👀
"I-" He freezes, scowling, then eventually he continues. "I... regret... I regret. Making her.... Allowing her to love me. I regret allowing myself to... feel anything...."
He sighs and looks down, the talking becoming easier the more he does it. "...It started out rotten, at the roots. I... I just wanted to use her. Nothing that starts with such roots has any right to grow so strong, to bloom so beautifully..."
Tears seem to form in his eyes. He blinks them away, annoyed. "It is over, now. There's no point in regrets." He can still see her face when he shuts his eyes. "...I will only say that... If I could do it over, I would never be with her."
He'd spare them both the pain, given the choice. Their happy moments weren't worth seeing the anguish in her eyes, that dark day.
Send 🗝 to force my muse to talk about a topic they never want to speak of
We all have a chapter we don’t read aloud, use this to free that bottled up emotion.

After a while they arrived at the castle, and went to the throne room. Bog shooed everyone that wasn’t Stuff, Thang, or soldiers out, and settled on his throne. “Bring me… the prisoner.”
The bag was set down in the middle of the room.
Cronan, jostled and mussed and all the grumpier for it, gave a sigh of relief when he felt solid ground under him. Good, now he could finally have his revenge! He burst from the bag the instant he was able, drawing himself to his full height (such as it was) and quite literally sparking with anger.
“How dare you!” he snapped, glaring at Bog. His magic was making the air around him hum slightly, but he was trying to hold back. “I demand to know why you’ve brought me here!”
miscellaneous-muses:
“Get back in yer bag.” Bog poked him in the forehead with the butt of his staff, then pushed him with it trying to stuff him deeper in. He made a gesture and the goblins moved to close the bag again.
Cronan pouted as he was shoved back. As soon as they were on the ground again, he swore, there would be hell to pay for these indignities.
At least it sounded like Ashwing would be all right, and he was no longer within eating distance of her. That was preferable.
He crossed his arms and sat down with a loud sigh after the bag closed. He didn’t like feeling this powerless, but he’d just have to wait it out.
miscellaneous-muses:
Bog grunted at the sudden weight of an entire sleeping dragonfly in his arms, and flew down to lay her on the forest floor before flying back up. Then he ordered one of the goblins to stay with her and if possible, get her to a stable. He didn’t want to just let an aggressive animal loose on everyone.
Cronan glared at his captors, the occasional spark of magic illuminating the inside of the bag. He was tempted to make a break for it, but he’d caught an impression of how high up they were, and he wasn’t interested in becoming part of the leaf litter.
“You’ll all be sorry for this,” he growled.
