Farewell to Preuzien

Hello all. This title may come as a shock to you, but don’t worry, it’s not as drastic as you might think. I do intend to keep a lot of the worldbuilding that I’ve done, and I doubt that the changes I’m making are going to majorly affect your character.

What am I going to do, you might ask?

I have made the decision to stop having Preuzien as a German-based region and to change its theme to a more general cosmic/psychological horror-based fantasy region called Dispara.

Update: the family of the victim already knows who this bitch is. Some of my friends wrote to the high school’s alumni association asking to denounce the actions and bar the perp from future events. If they and/or the police don’t do anything, I’m going to get involved w/them in a petition for some meaningful action to be taken.

Wish us all luck in bringing this person to justice.

Lilith stands there for a moment in total silence, before giving Feiyun something. It's an egg! Inside of it is a baby Delta Pokemon, if she chooses to accept it!

      “is that……is that for me?” 

feiyun gives a little gasp. she can feel her face grow hot at lilith’s smile. a cute girl. giving her a gift. a gift of a pokémon egg. one of her favorite things in the world! she can barely believe her luck, or dare to imagine that such a thing is happening right now.

      “oh, i would love it!” she says, bouncing a little in her excitement as she takes the egg from lilith. “what’s in it? i want to know so i’m prepared.”

tobias is the pokémon world’s ender from ender’s game…that’s basically what this is. the more i thought about it the less i actually wanted him to be doing most of the fighting, at least initially. i CANNOT see 10-12 year old tobias going around killing people directly but i can see him being swayed to make life-or-death decisions from behind a war room table. i’m thinking…he would have trained all that time and started entering the fighting at 14, same age that finnick odair from the hunger games won the games--but still ridiculously young to be fighting any sort of evil, like god, why do fantasy books never go into detail about what happens to kids who change destiny that young? moreover, instead of being champion at 15 he becomes champion at 16-17. then perhaps instead of being 19 this year, he is 20 or 21? just throwing thoughts out there

Renate Rubin’s (Possible) Resignation: The Road Forward Is Never Straight

so we all know renate as this pure, innocent ray of sunshine who can do (almost) no wrong. and apart from being a ray of sunshine she’s also a ray of hope for the nation, just like tobias was. we all wish for more people like her in politics. what can go wrong with her in charge?

well that’s the thing.

She’s a politician. Facing Team Shatter. Her innocence is EXACTLY the problem.

things were simpler when she was an activist. she wasn’t the type of activist to sit down at a table and make decisions; most of what she did was advocate and inspire. but now, in politics, she has to LEAD. and her fatal flaw of leadership is that it’s extremely hard for her to make the hard choices required by preuzien’s situation. 

tobias made those choices and compromises while facing evil with relative ease. renate, on the other hand, stays up all night wondering about the most moral way forward, kicks it to the rest of her league to vote on instead of making a decision herself, and then stays up all night again obsessing over the inevitable negative consequences because when the stakes are high, no solution is perfect--something she has NOT yet accepted. she makes mistakes because of this. lives are lost because of this. parts of preuzien grow dissatisfied that they don’t have a decisive leader at their helm. and she knows how much she’s failing, she knows this position might not be good for her, but her sense of shame at even thinking about stepping down keeps her locked in place. one day, a solution will present itself in a character mused by one of my friends…but that solution will have far worse consequences for her than anything that’s happened before.

literally the only thing holding me back from having her step down is that i’d prefer to keep the title of preuzien’s champion among my own muses and i don’t know who i’d replace her with. but in any case, the same saying of mine applies to her as to tobias and the rest of the league when preuzien is abolished:
