Too much in this world
Too much for so many of us to be sleeping, dreaming, laying exposed
Defenseless under the gilded colors of red, white and blue
A flag more like a blindfold
Strapped over the eyes of America
Suffocating its soul
The windows of the slaughter house
Plastered over with lies
When will we wake up?
Why do we sleep?
Is it because reality is too much to stand?
Is it because of the frail pillars of our great country?
Corroding from the acid of hatred that seeps through its core?
And rather than watch this crumbling carcass of a country breathe its last breath
We close our eyes
Intoxicate ourselves to sleep with the drugs of love and greed
The desire of power
So we can dream and believe that the glitter is gold
This is why so few have awaken
Those that have no idea what to do
Opening their eyes to the hell that we call home
Naturally, insanity takes hold
Outcast from society, these woken people go mad
Rage filling their minds
Darkness looming over their heads
The hope in their hearts fighting like their lives depend on it
Outside their is a war
Outside there is a battle between the truth and evil
And our warriors have thrown away their swords of speech
Given in to the sweet promises of the sirens
These promises that originate from ourselves
The lies we believe
The false world we trust
All thanks to our own minds
We are the ones to blame
For our own destruction
Not as individuals
But as children of this earth
The credit is ours
