As a society, we need to go back to understanding that strangers on the internet are, you know, strangers. I feel lately that I'm seeing a rise in 'An author I love blocked me because they took my comment the wrong way' posts on the ao3 subreddit, and then the comment is them calling the author a fucking bitch or something like that.
Don't do this. Tone doesn't translate well in text, and if you don't have a rapport with that author, they are not going to interpret, 'You're a fucking bitch' as, 'Author I hate you for being so talented and making me feel so keenly.' They're going to interpret it as you being an asshole. You can shit talk with your friends because you have an established relationship with them and can distinguish between playful banter and genuine anger. You do not have this with a stranger, no matter how much you like their fics. You will have a much more pleasant time in fandom and not get cockblocked from interacting with your favorite writers if you remember this.

When I reblog someone, I'm reblogging just that one post—I'm not endorsing everything they've ever posted. I haven't scrolled through their entire blog or looked at their DNI list if any.
It's entirely possible for a person to make one post that is thoughtful and inspiring, and then the very next thing they post is full of shit. Maybe you've even noticed that in things I've written.
Use your own judgment, according to your own needs of what is or is not safe for you.
Hi, um, I know I was sassy about this earlier, but if I can just be real a second? If you agree with anon- or hell, if you ARE the anon here, do consider bringing this up to a doctor. Because the need for everyone you even reblog from to be “safe” is not a normal or sustainable compulsion. It is in fact usually a symptom. Anon doesn’t have the right to demand others comply with this symptom of course, but it could be that they simply assumed everyone else has this same need. They do not. Consider talking to someone about this, it’ll make you feel so much better.
