It was important to them to keep the character of the bar as it was, complete with the 80s wooden bar, full size tree & taxidermy birds built installed by previous owners. The idea was just really to freshen the place up with an improved selection of drinks, including ales from Scotland and special spirits and cocktails, as well as having quick and friendly service. We like to play an interesting music selection from new as well as established artists, and regularly host after show parties. We have a wonderful jukebox which holds playlists which have been very kindly created by a whole host of musicians, artists, novelists, comedians and directors, inlcuding Robert Smith from The Cure, Pavement, The Smiths, Interpol, Errors, Mogwai, Irvine Welsh, Susan Phillipz and many more... The former darts club room is now a separate gallery space, called Giftraum, which hosts exhibitions and projects by international and local artists. It is also suitable for use as a pop-up shop or market. Please contact us if you are interested in using this space. Our bar has a separate smoking room. We believe in fair distribution of money for musicians and have paid GEMA since opening. We also use 100% renewable electricity.
