Tom And Jerry

So am I the only one who thinks jerry is a masochist and sadist?Cuz he constantly torments Tom and whenever Tom find something to do that isn't chasing jerry,jerry dies everything he can to sabotage a budding romance, or destroy toms passion. It reminds me of that one episode of sponge in where plankton opens a gift shop, even if it was just a ploy to get the formula.
