I’m always astonished by a forest. It makes me realise that the fantasy of nature is much larger than my own fantasy. I still have things to learn.
Gunter Grass (via wordsnquotes)
On the topic of the eclipse: I have not yet posted anything in relation to the eclipse simply because I did not feel called to until now. If you’re a Summerville resident like myself, you’re aware of the common ground frustration due to the storm that hid the phenomenon from our view. Many were disappointed by the clouds that covered the event from our eyes. It’s easy to say “ugh, we didn’t get to see it, this sucks!” But what if we look at it from new eyes? There is a story told from long ago that in Native American belief systems it was considered wrong to look at the eclipse because in their eyes it was like eavesdropping on lovers. Interrupting on a private conversation between the sun and the moon that happens so rarely. Isn’t that beautiful? It’s easy to feel disappointed when expectations are not met. But I can tell you when the moon covered the sun and the world turned to dark, I did not need to see it to feel the power of their conversation. 😊💕
