Vivian thought she would be able to hold it together, she really did, but at the sight of the flabbergasted expression on her sister’s face, she couldn’t help it. It was a good thing that Aimee reached out and took the pickle jar away from the younger girl, because Vivian immediately lost control and burst out laughing. She rested a hand on the counter to steady herself, her free arm snaking around her torso since she was laughing herself into cramps.
It took Vivian a few moments to quiet herself down into giggles, swiping tears away from her eyes as she grinned at her sister. “Maybe it just liked me better. Maybe you were just being too mean to it. After all, you keep calling it names,” Vivian pointed out teasingly, reaching over and snatching up a pickle from the jar for herself. She could consider it payment for her good deed. She bit into it, relishing the crunch and the bitterly-sweet taste.
She arched a brow at her older sister, shaking her head. “I have a question before I accept that job position-- how often do you fight with pickle jars? Because if this is like, a daily thing, then I think we just need to have Mr. Wayne invent you a pickle jar opening machine or something. I do have a life you know.”
Vivian was only partially teasing. She would happily visit her sister on a daily basis, and she would always be happy to lend Aimee a hand with her troubles. However, if all of those troubles involved opening pickle jars... Then maybe investing in a new Wayne-tech invention wouldn’t be a half-bad idea. Not that they could ever really convince Bruce Wayne, Batman himself, to dedicate his time to pickle jar dilemmas.

prepare to get supported the fuck out of aimee/the greatest showman!
“Aimee, what are you even talking about?”
Vivian is looking up at her older sister with a furrowed brow, her expression a mixture of disbelief and concern. Aimee was normally so confident and charismatic, so much like their dad that it worried Vivian on occasion. However, just like their dad, Aimee had an insecure side, one that she rarely revealed to others unless she was really comfortable with letting her walls down.
But Vivian still had trouble grasping what her sister was going through. Sure, Vivian could understand the feeling of being lesser. She had struggled with it her whole life, but especially more so since she had been found and adopted by their father. She had been a street kid, and she had done awful things before she was taken in and given the Jordan name. No matter how much good she tried to do, she never felt like it would be enough.
But Aimee?
“Aimee, how do you not see how great you are? I mean, you’re the toughest person I know. Plus you’re smart, you care a lot about others, you’re hilarious… You’re good at basically everything you set your mind to, except for opening pickle jars anyway.” Vivian smiled slightly at her joke, but quickly sobered again. “You’re amazing, Aims. I…”
She hesitated, blushing and lowering her gaze before continuing. She wasn’t very good at the emotional stuff, but she felt that her older sister needed to hear this.
“I really look up to you. If I can even end up being half the person you are someday… I would count myself really lucky.”
The silence is so long that Vivian figures he simply isn’t going to answer. That’s all right-- she wasn’t really expecting him to. The lack of an answer was answer enough, after all. She moves her gaze back to the ground, absentmindedly scuffing her foot against the sidewalk to fill the dead air with some sort of noise, to fill the void floating between them.
But then he answers. She looks up, surprise clear on her face before her expression softened. It was an honest answer, a vulnerable one, and she was sure that it had been difficult to give. She truly believed that honesty was the best policy, but even she still struggled when it came to admitting to her past demons. She smiled, though it didn’t quite meet her eyes as she looks back to the ground. “I know what you mean. Probably not the same extent, but... I get it,” she said simply, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

SENTENCE MEME ⟶ THINGS SAID BETWEEN ME AND MY PARTNER / PART ONE always feel free to tweak the sentence to fit your muse.
“One day you’re gonna kill someone, and we will not be surprised.”
“The world needs to stop thinking of itself and think about us for once.”
“I went from being such a genius to falling down a hole.”
“It’s time to cannibalize another laptop to keep mine working.”
“It’s fine, I’ll hide in the toilets.”
“Is this a door? It looks like a door but it doesn’t work like a door.”
“This chair is really broken but I’m going to stand on it anyway.”
“Oh. I broke it.”
“That is so spectacularly broken.”
“I will always fight god for you.”
“This is a lot bigger than I thought it’d be.”
“I’m so angry about ugly hats.”
“You have a heinous quantity of shoes.”
“If I’m getting hecked you’re getting hecked with me.”
“You got big dick energy.”
“Do you want a creepy one? I have a creepy one.”
“Who in our families is going to take one for the team and kick the bucket and give us inheritance.”
“Half my family keeps insisting they’re gonna die soon, so.”
“You can’t blame the moon for everything.”
“America is victimizing me.”
“You’re literally the only reason America’s not allowed to sink into the ocean.”
“I’m gonna sit on you until you feel better.”
“Maybe it’s the evil hats.”
“Oh, yeah. Pretending to care about opinions.”
“Are you encouraging me to throw sharp things?”
“You can throw sharp things for 24 hours only.”
“Some people just have faces you wanna throw darts at.”
“I have so many pants. Why do I only wear the same two pair all the time?”
“So many guns, so little time.”
“Fuck these hangers, they’re worthless and can’t do their damn job right.”
“Are you having a fight with the dryer?”
“If I was having a fight, there’d be a lot more cursing.”
“You might have a dishwasher but we have a dryer, so I guess we’re even.”
“Doing that would be completely disastrous.”
“Did you just call me a brave woman!?”
“He would be a very ugly woman.”
“It sounds like I’m being rude, and I probably am.”
“I guess we can text like normal people. Who even calls people anymore?”
“You should be able to turn your period on and off like a monthly subscription. ”
“Fight me, because that’s something I encourage.”
“Today is cursed, so we can go live in the woods.”
my anger is not beautiful. it is cold and biting, bitter, all teeth. a wounded dog. i am desperate. thats enough to make me something close to deadly
Vivian rolled her eyes, unable to help her reaction.
How do you talk sense into someone who refuses to listen, or evenconsider listening?
Simple. You didn’t. She knew that Lawson wasn’t joking, that there was an unfortunate and dangerous truth to the words he spoke so casually about jumping into traffic. She had been completely blindsided by them, and her own words had flown out of her mouth as a knee-jerk reaction. She had meant them, even if she was basically called Lawson stupid.
She wanted to argue with him, to point out that he clearly knew that people cared about him, so would he really want to put them through the pain of losing him? She understood the feeling of having nothing to push you forward-- she had lived with it for years-- and yet she had lived on anyway, without anyone there rooting for her to survive. She wanted to let him know that he was stronger than she was, that he could beat the monster placed in front of him. She could have said a million things to Lawson. She could have gotten upset, angry, she could’ve yelled--
But she did none of those things, because none of those things would do any good. She huffed out an irritated breath, blowing her bangs away from her eyes. She did her best not to really show the inner turmoil he was causing her, including the intensifying ache in her chest. “You’re an asshole, Grayson,” she remarked, before stepping forward and linking his arm with her own. She moved further down the street, clearly intending for him to walk with her.
“C’mon, moody-ass. We’re going to get some coffee. And if it would make you feel better, once we have coffee I’ll fuck off, all right? Next time I’m in the city I’ll visit someone else. And I’m paying, by the way. Don’t even argue.”

“About time. Did you actually stop for coffee? I thought that was a joke.”
Vivian uncrossed her arms and pushed herself upright off the wall, allowing herself to levitate a few inches off the ground. She was ready for the night ahead of them, though caffeine really wasn’t a half bad idea– it would be a long flight across the galaxy for the two Jordan sisters.
Does coffee actually last in space though? I doubt you can just carry it in a to-go cup.
Unimportant. Vivian already had her power ring slipped on over her gloved finger, in complete Blue Lantern mode. She wasn’t expecting any trouble on their flight, but with Aimee?
Anything is possible with my big sister’s mouth.
“Are you ready? We shouldn’t keep the others waiting, especially since we don’t know what the job is yet.”
