Melissa Granlund, MPLS
Maid of Honor
I had always really wanted a best friend but somehow I felt like everyone was taken and because my family moved a lot while I was growing up, people didn't really stay in touch. People's lives go on and you're no longer there.
I never imagined being blessed with someone so amazing as Melissa in my life. She has fought to stay in touch with me through out the years, be in from Minnesota, Poland, Ukraine, or Michigan. I feel so privileged to be a part of her life and heart. She is the most reliable, serving, gentle, kind, adventurous, beautiful and fun person I know. From jet skiing together on lakes in Minneapolis, chilling at the Taj Mahal in India, shopping in boats on a floating market in Thailand (where she pet tigers too), praying in a hot tub surrounded by snow, and watching Say Yes to the Dress over and over again pretending like it's part of our wedding planning...my best memories are with her :)
Don't be fooled by her quiet spirit, because she is one lady who is on fire for God - and that is my most favorite thing about her. She continues to inspire me in our friendship as she constantly gives up success in the world to serve as a missionary anywhere God calls her. "Go anywhere, do anything" definitely describes Melissa and I love her so much for that. She is an extremely talented architect and her building models would put everyone to shame (but I don't think she knows that), yet she chooses to build with something much more precious and serves to strengthen God's kingdom.
I really don't know what I'd do without this lady! From deep heart to heart talks that pushed us both toward God, to helping me pack for India during my final exams in Minneapolis, to even doing my dishes at times, and now helping plan out my wedding...I can seriously say, I wouldn't be where I am without her support, friendship and love.
I love that you treat me like an equal and never look down on me but always help me stand up in times of trouble and hardship. You help me be kinder and when you were in India, seeing your heart to serve the people here is something I'll never forget. That's kind of what sparked my desire to want to serve in the ministry. I love you Melissa <3 <3 my bestest friend and sister :) I am so indebted to God for letting you be in my life Mel!

If there could be a best smile award it would have to go to Annie. I know that sounds extremely cheesy, but she can light up an entire stadium with her joyful spirit, stunning voice and smile!
I first stayed with her in her apartment in NYC the summer of 2009. We were total strangers then and I wasn't even a Christian. Annie sang at Church on Sunday and told me her dream used to be to want to sing and act on Broadway. Then she decided to give it all up and become a Christian. She did worry about me coming home alone late at night and doing other questionable things, but she never looked down on me. She politely told me the rules of the house and just loved me along with her two other roommates - Shanelle and Angela. When I was around her I just knew she was someone who believed in me and had a vision for me. But I had so much to battle with then that I did not fully realize all of this until later that year.
It was through Annie, Shanelle, Angela, Joy and the love of many other disciples at the New York City Church of Christ - Manhattan that I finally got curious about God and wanted that security and joy they found in their identity in Christ. That winter I told my parents I was ready to study the Bible...and so in my new college in Minneapolis I got hooked up with the campus ministry, studied the Bible and got baptized! (Shout out to Stevi and Laura for studying the bible with me <3)
Ever since then my friendship with Annie reached a new level. We were sisters now! And she always had her home and heart open to me. We would talk for hours and it didn't seem like any time passed. She is such a great listener and always called me higher. She is such a beautiful, talented, smart, loving and faithful disciple, sister and friend.
I love you so much Annie! I can't imagine you not being in my life! God favors you so much!!!
Thank you so much for coming all the way <3
Neither of us thought we'd turn out to be such a cheesy couple! Sorry, not sorry but WE'RE ENGAGED!!
