Coping with the aftermath of a war was harder than Davian initially thought it would be. After making sure his sister was out with the rest of the students, he had returned to help Madam Pomfrey to tend to the wounded. He might not have had much experience but he tried his best to help. However, seeing the school he cared for so much being destroyed right in front of his own eyes was hard. He had horrible nightmares at the beginning but his parents and family were very understanding and helped him through them until he was able to move on. It had certainly helped to be able to return to Hogwarts, along with his family and friends, to participate in rebuilding the castle.
His eldest brother, Tomothée, had tried to convince their parents that his youngest siblings should continue their education elsewhere. However, both of them refused; Davian was in his last year and would be graduating soon, after all. He did not want to study at a place where he did not know anyone or their rules. He couldn’t afford to be distracted by anything when he was trying to be accepted into the Healer program.
Davian spent the night before his return to Hogwarts in the kitchen with his mother baking cookies. The act was familiar and comforting; he had learned how to cook and bake on his own but he rarely did, preferring to do it with his mother instead. It was their tradition and he didn’t have it in his heart to suggest anything else, especially when a part of him was terrified that he would not be able to do so in the future.
He still hadn’t come out to his family and was terrified they would think of him differently once he does. His parents were open minded, but to a certain degree, he did not think this was one of things they would accept. After all, he had once overheard them speaking about his uncle; not only did he join Voldemort but also he was also attracted to the same gender, which somehow seemed to be worse. He, thereby, retreated back to his room and owled the only person who knew about his sexual orientation.
He was aware that he would have to tell his parents someday but it was not going to be anytime soon. He planned to do it after he got accepted into healer program, hoping their pride will outweigh their prejudice.
