Description
David Minor is a former student and dancer with the renowned Joffrey Ballet. He has released multiple albums with reputed European labels, including Nonine Recordings of Berlin, whereupon his release 'sparse" was nominated for "The German Record Critics Prize" (category: New And Extreme). He has a long ranging background in the theatrical arts. The graduate of a 10 year theatre conservatory, dance student of America Ballerina, Gellsey Kirkland, and the son of a prodigal violinist; one can hear the many influences distilling their way into his musical compositions. About his music: David's style is a mixture of Vaudevillian jazz, Edwardian classical, and glitchy electro acoustic elements. His vocal style has been described as being "... like Jeff Buckley dancing with Billie Holiday in a Magritte painting... " (Say Hello Max, USA, 12/09) Much of the music is designed for his own ballet choreography. His balletic works are now being performed throughout Europe. David works with live musicians, artists and dancers, intertwining them with electronic elements, seeking to create a range of illusively organic atmospheres between them. David has had the honor of featuring University of California's orchestra on his last album "Lush". His past collaborations include, Rochester Universities resident conductor/composer Goffrey Pope, and composer Ben Ricther. You can also spot david in a smattering of Hollywood films, dozens of theatrical productions, and commercials. He is a Californian expat, now residing in Europe.

Icelandic Longboard Sagas
This July I will be venturing out to the far reaches of Iceland with my longboard, a back pack and perhaps a small biking camera crew, for an unpredictable chunk of time.
There, I plan to Longboard the coast of Iceland, filming some short documentaries involving music, longboarding, social-happenstance, and last but not least, the pristine gifts and perils of Icelands extreme natural environment.

Lovely review on Sayhellomax!
MY FRIEND DAVID MINOR LIVES IN BERLIN. HE'S A BRILLIANT ARTIST AND MUSICIAN, AND ALSO ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS. ON DEC 24TH THIS YEAR, HE'S COMING OUT WITH HIS ALBUM, 'SPARSE'. FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD THUS FAR, IT'S BRILLIANT AND COULD EASILY BECOME A FAVORITE FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTO EXPERIMENTAL ELECTO ACCOUSTIC MUSIC. HERE'S A LINK TO HIS RECORD LABEL. ALSO, YOU SHOULD CHECK HIM OUT AT: WWW.MYSPACE.COM/DAVIDMINOR TO HEAR SOME OF HIS EARLIER SONGS! KIND OF LIKE JEFF BUCKLEY DANCING WITH BILLIE HOLIDAY IN A MAGRITTE PAINTING ... IN MY OPINON.

Debut album review
when you experience the work of some artists you understand it, others you enjoy it, but in david minor’s album 'sparse' he is able to do both. while doing these things he additionally taps into the rarified realm of expression that invokes a certain response from the listener, that of auricular resonation. through his application of various genres such as jazz, experimental, electronic, and minimalistic elements, he is able to sway the listener into a relaxed state of absorption. each musical element utilized in his compositions is done so with purpose, but no element of sound outshines another. in each of his tracks, he calculates each musical component so that it seamlessly merges with another while still working towards evoking a pleasant emotion. whether the element is a rendition of 'für elise' or brass horns from the ragtime era it is blended into body of music with effortless grace. each piece is able to stand on its own, but in order to appreciate what david minor is expressing through sound, but i would definitely recommend listening to 'sparse' as one piece of music and not several tracks. it’s a great find !!!
