With a nod, Blue grins and releases the Dog Pokemon.

Larger than a normal Arcanine, he barks upon being released, jumping up in the air before bowing to both Blue and Dawn.

Blue walks up to the Arcanine and scratches him behind ears.

Arcanine then walks slowly up to Dawn, sniffing the air, tongue hanging out.

Now this was a top-notch Arcanine. Huge, fluffy, so warm she could tell from a few feet away... Just perfect in every way, really. She slowly, carefully raised a hand, gauging the dog’s reaction.

“Well now, you’re a big boy, aren’t you? Goodness help us all if you’re a lap dog, haha, you’d knock us over!”

She has the biggest grin on her face right now.

“Hmm.” Cynthia crosses her legs. “Possibly, but you can’t know for sure. I worry that he may emerge from the shadows and try something. I would rather not have to experience anything like that again.” The Distortion world was truly a breathtaking sight, but it took such a toll on her.

“Ehhh. I mean, sure, I worry a bit too, but... he’s got no technology to pull another Red Chain from the Pixies of the Lakes, and so he can’t pull out Dialga and Palkia again. Besides, even if he somehow did, I’ll just be there to kick his ass again. Maybe let Gira munch on him this time? They were oh-so-disappointed last time I told them no.”

“You ever thought about a prosthetic?” Blue asks. “They technology has gotten pretty sophisticated.”

He pulls a Pokeball from his pocket.

“I never go anywhere without my trusty Arcanine.”

“Considered it, sure. Decided, nah. It’s a nice reminder to keep my hubris in check, y’know? Even after beating Cynthia, and Steven for good measure, and sticking God in an Ultra Ball, I’m not invincible or anything.” She laughs - a little wryly, perhaps. “But don’t worry about that last point, I don’t keep them locked up or anything. Would be pretty bad for the universe as a whole, you know?”

Her eyes then get a little twinkle in them as Blue mentions his Arcanine. Fluffy doggos are the best doggos!

“Ooh, may I see them? I raised a Flareon, myself, but Arcanine are very precious~.”

She looks down at her hands. “I never had a good feeling about him. A part of me really wanted to move on, but I didn’t want him filling the position again. Though- being Champion does have it’s perks.”

“Yeeeaaah, the last thing Sinnoh needs is Mister Emotions Are Dumb And I’ll Get Mad And Remake The Universe If You Say Otherwise at the helm.” She rolled her eyes. “Well, what about now? I mean, shit, it’s been... what, like eight years or so since the whole Distortion World thing? Surely he’s dead by now.”

“It was more than 5 minutes! You know how long it takes to get from Pallet to the Indigo Plateau?” He sighs and facepalms.

“Right, I’ve heard of you.” he breaks into a grin, winking. “Yep. I’m Blue. And hey, paperwork sucks. That’s why I didn’t stay Champ after my second reign.”

“Oh, my mistake; six minutes, then.” She returned Blue’s wink, then nodded. “Yeah, tell me about it. Paperwork’s bad enough normally, but me- well, I can hardly even hold a pen.”

Dawn wryly wiggled her three-fifths of a left hand. “Word of unsolicited advice, take a Fire-type with you if you ever come check out northern Sinnoh.”

The blonde takes a moment to ponder this question. “Well… let’s see… I would have to say- six years? I held the title for quite some time.” Ah yes, the champion prior to her. “As for who held the title prior to myself, that just so happened to be Cyrus. When I began my journey, I never intended to go to the top the way I did. However, the more I explored, the more I saw that things could be better, and if I became Champion, I could do just that, so I did. Though my doing so, I did limit my traveling capabilities.”

Blink, blink. “Fucking Cyrus was the champ, really?? Yikes, the competitive scene in Sinnoh must have been tragic before you came around then.”

Dawn shook her head. “Well, the less I think of him, the better. With your last point, I always wondered why you were a Champion and not a historian, with how much you knew. I guuueeess that might have to do with having to find a new champ if you dropped out? Arceus knows I’m not dealing with the bureaucratic garbage a position like that entails.”

Had Arceus been there, yes, they would totally be able to confirm that.

She couldn’t help but break out in a cheeky grin at her question. After a moment, though, it subsided into a more normal smile.

“Nah, I’m just messin’ with you. Blue Oak, right? I’m Dawn Amari, Sinnoh’s, uh... other Champion. I let Cynthia keep her day job~.”

I tried ‘ta find his mama, but da Garchomp wanted ‘ta kill da tyke.” She sighed. “Poor lil’ guy. He looked so scared.”

“Ah... yeah, I’ve seen that happen sometimes. Every species tends towards survival of the fittest, naturally, but the Gible line practices that more... mm, proactively than others?” She shrugs.

“But, I gotta ask... why the hell were you looking for a Garchomp to wrestle with? Is that just, uh... something you do? Or maybe you’re some kind of professional dragon wrestler?”
