“Sweetheart, you have to help me out here,” he says as gently as he can, scratching Derek’s scalp and the skin around his ears.

Finally, Derek mumbles something into the pillow.

“Didn’t catch that, sorry,” Stiles says regretfully as he strains to hear.

“I said, I hate. My fucking. Life.” Derek enunciates clearly now, lifting his face out of the pillow and meeting Stiles’ eyes. _ Or, a couple days spent with Derek and his worsening depression. Wolfy Derek makes an appearance, as does a cat, some soup, and lots of cuddles.

"It tickles," Derek murmured softly as he felt the brush against his skin. It wasn't anything he couldn't handle, but he loved the way Stiles' fingers twitched when he interrupted his concentration. It was just enough to make Stiles remember Derek was the one he was painting, but not enough to pull him out of the focus completely.

"Suck it up big guy, I'm almost done."

Derek smiled softly at the nickname. It wasn't the most romantic of their names, but it was the familiar one. "But you told me not to move. I can't suck anything."

That made the fingers on his thigh twitch even more. He smiled again as Stiles began painting another broad swipe over his stomach, the bristles of the brush course but delicate. Stiles was always delicate with his art—brush, pencils, chalk, ink, pen, tattoos—whatever medium it was. It was one of the only things delicate about him.

The soft silence of the loft was comforting as Stiles continued, Derek thinking about the warm leg between his thighs and the comforting heartbeat of his mate. Derek took a slow, easy breath and smiled again. "I love you, moon."

"I love you too, wolf," Stiles said, Derek feeling the hand stop painting for a second and then lips on his. Warm, comforting, and tasting like the chocolate chip pancakes Derek had made this morning. "Now hold still or I'll be doing this all day."

"As long as you're touching me, that's alright with me."

Stiles gets on a flight with headphones, a neck pillow, two books, a magazine he picked up at the airport, a game boy, his laptop; and a notebook for research.

Derek gets on with nothing and rawdogs a 10 hour flight. Sometimes he “rests his eyes.”

And they’re married.

A couple months after Ilya left the cottage, he gets a notification on his phone. He thinks it’s Shane, his boyfriend, who’s been texting with him throughout the day.

Instead, it’s Yuna. But that’s not what catches his attention - it’s the group chat he’s been added to.

Hollander Family Chat Jane's mama: Hi Lily! Jane: Mom! Lily can’t have this chat name on her phone. Jane’s mama: Sorry, honey! I’ll fix it. Jane’s mama changed the group name to: Family ❤️ Family ❤️ Jane: That’s better. Just make sure her name is Lily in your phones. Jane’s papa: Done and done, kiddo! Jane: Thank you. Jane’s mama: Anyway, Lily, do you have thanksgiving weekend plans? Because I noticed you and Jane are both free that weekend and I thought…

Ilya put his phone down as Yuna detailed their thanksgiving plans. He could not tear up in the Bear's locker room.

He never imagined himself having this, never let himself consider it. Being in a family group chat. Having a family. He was pretty sure he buried that dream with his mama.

But the Hollanders welcomed him so comfortably. Even after he caused their son to lie to them. Even after all the things he’d done. They never even wanted an apology, would probably be confused if he gave one.

He’s afraid if he moves wrong it’ll all disappear.

But he has to respond because he wants to spend with holiday with them so much.

And the texts don’t stop there.

Family ❤️ Jane’s mama: Great game today, Lily! What a comeback. Lily: You watched? Jane’s mama: Of course! We watch all your and Shane’s games. Jane: Jane. Delete that text. Jane’s papa: And if we miss it, I have them on the recorder. Lily: Thank you.

Family ❤️ Jane’s papa: Lily, do you have any allergies? Lily: Russians do not get allergies. Jane: Yes they do and no, dad, Lily does not. Jane: Also, don’t mention being Russian.

Family ❤️ Jane’s mama: Lily, could I get the forwarding information for your agent? Jane got a proposal that I think will work out perfectly for you. Jane: Please call about this. Lily: Not only hockey players get proposals maybe I am famous model Jane. Lily. Jane’s papa: You could definitely be a model, kiddo! Lily: Thank you 🥰 Jane why are you unsupportive of your girlfriend. Jane: Boyfriend. Jane’s papa: Now I’m confused.

Family ❤️ Jane’s mama: I can’t believe the ref let Adams get away with that hit! Jane’s papa: . . .

Ilya gripped the phone waiting for David’s response. The metros had been obliterated 1-5 and Shane, fresh off a bruised wrist, didn’t play his best.

Jane’s papa: How’s your wrist, son? Jane: It’s fine. Jane’s papa: Lots of ice and elevation! You played great! Jane: I didn’t. Jane’s papa: You’ll get them next time!

Ilya breathed out, shaking his head. Shane didn’t know how lucky he was. And Ilya was so grateful he didn’t.

Eventually, Ilya even began initiating the conversation.

Family ❤️ Lily: Are you guys coming to MTL / BOS game today? Jane's mama: We are! Jane's papa: I know we can't wear any Boston merch, but we'll be rooting for you! Jane: Dad! Jane's papa: We'll be rooting for both of you! Jane: You can't root for both of us. Jane's mama: No comment. . . . Lily: I was wondering if you all wanted to come to my house after? Lily: After the game, I mean Lily: Only if you want Lily: Or don't have other plans Jane's mama: We would love too! Jane's papa: Need us to pick up anything before we come over? Lily: No, thank you. I have things to make dinner. I will send address. Lily: Thank you. Jane's papa: Of course! Have fun tonight, girls! Jane's mama: Play hard! Love you both. Jane's papa emphasized this message

Ilya could not stop smiling as he got all the ingredients together to make pelmeni. He separated the dough and the meats and sauce into separate little containers so it would be easier to make once the Hollanders arrived after the game.

He imagined doing this for years to come. Maybe when he and Shane had their own home together, making food for his in-laws, for their friends and teammates. Maybe even for their children.

For the first time in a very long time, Ilya couldn't wait for the future.

Equally possessive Sterek

Derek who gets possessive and territorial easily. He's a wolf and if someone else is looking at his mate, of course he wants to get aggressive but for the longest time he'll hide it. He'll oppress it and force it down cause he doesn't want to burden stiles by being this way. Doesn't wanna seem toxic or clingy or overbearing cause he knows that humans get that way. He's seen it when his mom curbed her jealousy cause his dad didn't like it. (Until eventually he finds out just how much it turns on Stiles when he's possessive)

Stiles who is super unsubtle about being jealous. He doesn't realise how obvious he's being but if you think this guy will stand in the corner and watch his man be ogled at and flirted with. You're WRONG. He's there in a second. Clinging onto Derek like a cat, touching him and being overly mean and sarcastic to the person in question and giving them the nastiest stink eye EVER. Trying to get Derek's attention onto him by any means possible and preening when he does it. (And unbeknownst to him, Derek thinks it's the most adorable thing ever and it makes his wolf super proud to see his mate being publicly possessive over him)

Breathless and spent, Draco tumbles down onto the bed. He’s laughing. A real, genuine laugh. He turns his head and finds Harry beside him, flushed and amused and a little bewildered.

The reason why sits on Harry’s finger.

A gold band.

The only thing he’s wearing.

“So?” Draco asks, shifting to face him properly.

“So what?” Harry counters.

Draco is in no mood to draw the process out. He crowds into Harry’s space, nipping gently at the sweat-slick skin of his neck, then soothes the sting with a kiss.

Against his ear, he says, “You’re wearing it.”

Harry looks at him, eyes half-lidded. “So I am.”

“I’m going to presume, then.” Draco takes Harry’s hand, draws it up, kisses the ring he had slotted onto his finger half an hour ago, then holds it tight.

“Presume?”

“That you’re saying yes. You didn’t say it earlier.”

Harry’s lips twitch. “You didn’t exactly give me the chance.”

“Is it a yes, Harry?” Draco presses.

He knows it is. It has to be.

How can it not be after everything? After the war and the trials, after both of them becoming Aurors, after the fights and the arguments, after the shared drinks where absolution was found at the bottom of a pint glass and resurrection between the sheets.

How can it not be yes, when even after all that, they spent months denying themselves the joy and love of each other because they both felt like they didn’t deserve it?

Harry tightens his fingers around Draco’s.

He tilts his head, fondness written plainly across his face. “I’m inclined to acquiesce.”

“Inclined to acquiesce,” Draco repeats mildly. “Wow. Swallowed a thesaurus, did you?”

“Swallowed something,” Harry mutters, arching a brow. “Swallowed your brain through your—”

Draco pinches his waist. Harry laughs, and then Draco is tickling him properly, ruthless with it, fingers digging into every vulnerable place he knows by heart.

“Draco—fuck—stop—”

“Answer the question.”

“I did!”

“You used four syllables too many.”

Harry squirms beneath him, panting and helpless and wearing Draco’s ring.

“Yes,” he gasps at last. “Yes, I’ll fucking marry you.”

Draco stills and for a moment, the room goes quiet around them. Then Harry reaches up, cups Draco’s face, and smiles.

“Since you’re so inclined to ask.”

Stiles tried to cast a spell to protect the city but ended up bonding himself with Derek. He feels like shit, now he is not different from all the people who took decisions away from Derek; he is not different from Kate and Jennifer. Derek on the other hand, is on cloud nine. He knows the only way for a mating bond to form is for the two people involved to be soulmates. No matter how strong a magic user is, not even the most powerful one could force a bond, not even Stiles. Derek had known they were mates for a long time, acting as nothing and seeing Stiles fly away to college broke his wolf and heart. But now they are mated, even if it was an accident, and Derek is going to use it as an excuse to show and say all the things he never dared to. Even if he has to act and pretend to help Stiles find a way to break the bond.

Stiles and Derek and their playful friendship where they constantly try to annoy the hell out of each other but actually it’s very fun and flirty. Stiles smacking Derek on the butt and running away. Derek excusing himself from the conversation he was in to follow after him slowly, looking real scary walking up the stairs, maybe flashing his eyes a little for show, cornering Stiles who is laughing/begging for mercy. Derek smirking before throwing him over his shoulder like he weighs nothing and then carries him to some bedroom, drops him on the bed and just starts tickling him until he cries😌
