Iâm not a maladaptive daydreamer, but I do enjoy daydreaming as a coping mechanism and means of escapism and entertainment. I have several paracosms, some more developed than others, with their own paras and individual lives. I hope Iâm not intruding on the MaDD community by using their terminology, I just wanted a space to talk about this stuff so Iâm here :)Â

ChaleriansÂ
my earliest paracosm, created in the fifth grade. Itâs gone through numerous different iterations and changes, but I still use it to this day as my go-to for fandom-based daydreaming. Involves dimensional travelling magical girls that can see souls and go to different worlds (ie. different fandoms) and interact with the canon characters there. Modern day.Â
Lyrâs Empire
my absolute favorite paracosm, one that I love with all my heart and soul. It involves a man named Lyr (even though thatâs not his first name, itâs what he goes by) who becomes king unexpectedly, then emperor, and the trials he goes through as he works to unite all the kingdoms of the continent under his empire. He meets a lot of different people and learns their stories. Medieval fantasy.
Night Star Â
a witch named Alesia from a secret island coven goes to the anti-magic mainland after discovering a seerâs text about an upcoming apocalypse at the hands of the elves that populate the land. Alesia wants to stop the destruction before it starts, but wasnât prepared to witness the suffering the elves are subjected to. She starts out as a vigilante trying to help people and ends up the leader of a revolution of the elves, working under the alias of Night Star. Medieval fantasy.Â
Astra Vale
a severely socially anxious girl named Aster discovers she has powers. Sheâs put in a âspecial programâ at school for being the only magic trainee there and her jaded instructor quickly realizes she has far more skill than what should be possible. Thereâs also elves. Set in the same paracosm as Night Star, years into the future. Urban magic.Â
In the GloomÂ
based on an actual dream I had where a girl is hired to kill one of her professors but he convinces her not to and she ends up protecting him instead. He also works with magical private investigators in his spare time so they get up to some shenanigans with solving cases and whatnot. honestly what even is the time period here?
Amethyst & AndroidsÂ
Amethyst, nicknamed Thyssa, wins a raffle to be the first person to travel between worlds. She gets to the new world and the transport machine immediately breaks, leaving her stranded there. Sheâs treated like a celebrity and given whatever she wants as proof of the companyâs technological advancements, so she uses this power to help androids that are being abused and abandoned. Basically, itâs DBH but my para adopts all the androids.Â
ZemblanityÂ
I was reading a lot of those âtransmigrated as the villainess!â manhwas over the summer and made a paracosm out of the idea. A girl is transmigrated into the body of the villainess of a novel she read and upset over the treatment her character received at the hands of the male lead, she decides to do everything in her power to break away from him, even if that means siding with his mortal enemy, the novelâs main villain. fantasy royalty.Â

Since I've run out of ideas for this blog and I'm just not feeling it anymore, I'm going to stop posting on here. Also since tumblr makes it near impossible to delete individual sideblogs without also deleting the main blog and everything else, I'll keep this blog up as an archive if any of you want to check it out in the future. thank you sooooooo much i was looking for something just like this! Itâs much more intuitive than world anvil and easier to use, plus its cleaner and more organized than microsoft word (and thank you, i might make a template of it if i can figure out how)

Itâs called Notion! (the free version not the ai version which is paid) its soooooooo cool omg I played with it for five hours yesterday i was up until 1am messing around with it because its so organized! It has toggle tabs and tags and subcategories and im obsessed
If you want it to look like mine, I used the basic âjournalâ template and enabled the subcategories under the menu options (thats how i got the toggle tabs) tho if i can figure out how to share things i will make a paracosm template of my own for u
If you need a good place to store all your daydream thoughts you could use notion! It allows an unlimited amount of pages (iirc) and is a great place to store and sort information about paracosms!

I'm a maladaptive daydreamer and follower of this blog! Opinions on this are heavily varied throughout the community but personally, I don't see my disorder as something that has to be eradicated or wrangled with. My daydreams exist alongside my life in a healthy way. They help me, therefore I indulge in them from time to time. That includes taking suggestions from this blog and incorporating them in! And I have worked hard to get to the point that I can put them asside when I need to. It's an ongoing struggle honestly. But treating maladaptive daydreaming as 'just any other addiction' can be pretty harmful to the community because it's so much more. Some people need to daydream, such as myself, and this blog is a help. I don't ever plan on 'quitting' daydreaming because I don't need to. I hope that previous anon (and everyone really) can take my experiences and broaden their perspectives of this disorder!

prev anon you're soooooooo right totally because every daydreamer is maladaptive and there's no such thing as daydream hobbyists or people who don't even consider themselves daydreamers who interact with this blog. right
thank you! and even if they are maladaptive, it's their choice whether or not to interact with this blog, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.
